Let's talk about the Luton game
« on September 05, 2018, 07:45:24 am by selby »
Always a tough game for us in the past, with the modern Kitson in Hylton always causing mayhem.
The injury to Rowe last night is a worry, although young Horton could be a savior at left back if the manager has confidence in him, a big decision to  made there,
Other than that I would expect the same side as at Peterborough, and hope for a similar performance to let the home crowd see them play well.
Luton have always made it tough for us in past games in the last few years, and  come not having won away this season, I hope we can stop giving FIRST wins, which seems to be a trend with us lately.
Would you have the confidence to play Horton?
   What team would you pick?
Can we start to show the same form as last week repeatedly?
What do you expect Luton to play like?
Lots of questions to be answered, please have your say.

The manager and players see Horton everyday in training and if they have confidence in him then play him!

Horton had a decent game last night so he might get the opportunity

Where does Horton play? The OP suggests the same side as Peterborough other than Horton in for Rowe, but Rowe was playing in midfield on Saturday and left back last night wasn’t he? I would expect we need 2 changes - a replacement for Rowe in midfield and a replacement for Andrew at left back.

Andrew and Amos are both fit.

This game becomes important for us now. We hav e played well in majority of league games and we should have won most. But we have now gone 5 league and 2 cup games without a win. GM and his staff and team need to stop this trend and let’s get a win.

Gaz that is great news, so only Rowe to worry about fitness wise with a bit of luck.
Hylton didn't play last weekend, so could be a miss for them.
Nick, Horton played left back as a substitute for Rowe, handled the situation well, got forward and has a strong physique. He did very well, and put in a right pile driver of a shot that the Keeper had difficulty holding from well outside the box.
Obviously he is behind Andrew and Amos, but if he can maintain that standard he showed last night, we are well covered at left back, and he will look to push the other two for a start shortly given the chance.
The left back who played for Newcastle looked a very good defender, we could do worse than watch how things develop with a couple of their defenders with the future in mind, in case they don't quite make it with Newcastle, or for future loans.

Suspect the lad we have on loan from Peterborough will come in for Rowe in some form.

If Tommy is not fit it will be a big miss. Suspect Blair or Anderson will play. Blair was poor last night but he will probably play.

Blair is not a centre midfielder and if in the team needs to be in the front 3... Idd guess Anderson will play if Rowe is injured or maybe copps night drop back into midfield

It's only 4 league games without a win, Steve.

We've got to beat them just to get one over that arrogant, delusional tw*t, Nathan Jones.

Why the Supremes sang about that c*nt I'll never know.

Yes you are right let’s hope we can change that on Saturday. Perform well and then clinical finishing.

He went 7 games without a win at Peterborough and was sacked!

There is still a lot of work to do, both with the first team and with what we have as back-up.

Looks like Hylton who should have been in our Most Hated Player poll - is possibly unfit for the with a Hamstring Injury. Hes missed 2 in a row by the look of it + half a game as he was subbed on 46 Mins preumably after pulling hamstring

That is good news for us then because he is a difficult player to play against.

We are not Peterborough though Alan, have more patience, and hopefully have more about us than to replace a decent man with that pile of fat s***e Evans who should have been banned from all football years ago.

The equation is simple. Carry on creating the chances, convert more of them and we win.

In their last few visits they have been very physical to the point of being down right dirty, in Hyltons last visit he did his best to resemble Kitson and succeeded.
If they have not changed, and their manager certainly has not, we need a strong referee who stamps his authority on the game from the off.

We should do some strong arm tactics to ruffle them first, so we don't get done in by them.

With our luck we would have somebody sent off for an innocuous foul.

Keep our heads, don't let anyone bully us out of a game and be hard without being foolish, and we should be like that every game, and we have been this season most of the time.
What we do not want is any silly sending off's

Hylton is a very good player. He's not dirty, just cute and similar to Marquis in that respect. There was an incident at the Keepmoat when he was on the floor by the touchline, surrounded by two of our players and he still came out with the ball, broke in to the box which led to a goal. I hope he doesn't play.

So 3 consecutive elbows on Butler in the same incident was cute not dirty, how strange

A big part of the difference between cute and dirty is getting away with it.

just to remind you all presumably Sonny Bradley (as in I like scoring from corners of free kicks against Rovers) X Plymouth probably plays  presume we have done our homework on him

He helped to score one of the best goals I’d ever seen at The Keepmoat.
