Attendance
« on December 16, 2018, 10:20:48 am by WheatleyRover »
Just over 7000 Rovers fans at the game yesterday, did the weather, kick-off time and it been Christmas keep the attendance down, or are people just not bothered?

Will be interesting to see if any improvement against Oxford next week.
Noticed the cheers seemed very quiet when we scored as well, what a cracking club we have and the Doncaster public should be ashamed

Only home game I missed this season , mixture of working long hours and being on nights, why the he'll do the change times of games. Think early kick off would of stopped a few from going .

Seemed pretty loud where I was for first 2 goals especially
West stand seemed more full than normal too
Very poor turnout from Scunny however in mitigation they are the worst team I’ve seen this year

It was freezing - I’m sure that put many off along with the kick off time. I’d be more concerned if I were a Scunthorpe fan... can’t muster more than 500 fans for their biggest game of the season. Shameful

Boxing Day at 3-00pm the gate would have been 9.500.

Regarding the kick off time, what a stupid idea it was to move the time to 12:15pm, with it being a race day and the second Saturday before Christmas, traffic around town was murder, I date say there would have been more there on the Friday night

Poor from both sides.

Having said that I saw on the TVs in the concourse and the Etihad had loads of empty seats.

We have probably 5000 hardcore fans the rest will come when we’re winning which we are and perfect conditions and find £21 value for money which at the minute is.

Bar the odd big game exception our home attendances always generally dip in the run up to Christmas time. It’s been the case for years, as I always adjust the fanzine print run for our pre-Christmas issue.

I doubt there will be more next week either.
It is the last Saturday before Christmas and Oxford won’t bring many fans with them.

There might be a few going who are back in town for Christmas - me and my brother for two. But you’re right, my expectations for the attendance are pretty low.

My lad got chickenpox for what should have been his first rovers game. I was gutted. Watched it online though. My son's attention (he's 5) lasted for all of a minute so at least it prepared.me for when we go to see them next Sat instead

I believe it was the police. It puzzles me why when we play Scunny, who invariably bring three men and a dog, we have an early Ko. When we play the Dingles, who will bring 3,000, it will be a 3pm Ko. Baffling.

I remember the days when we’d have 1200 for a home game.

And we'd have most likely felt the full force of that wind too at Belle Vue. I walked back over Lakeside, by eck was it cold.

The last time I felt that cold was at Oldham in the FA Cup.

Burnley away when Ranks was playing for us (91-ish?).  I think I died twice that night.  Got my hands frozen to the handrail.  I was past Huddersfield on the way back before I could feel my face.

There was something evil with the weather on Saturday though. Absolutely freezing.

SYP are useless. FACT. When Wall played Rotherham earlier this season we were allocated 800 tickets and a 12.30 kick off on a Sunday. On Saturday we will be taking 2,000 to Stoke for a 3PM kick off. So the question is what is it that Stoke plod can do which SYP can't?

Off topic but I’d just like to say......I’m not a regular reader of the Fanzine but bought one on Saturday from Howard. I really enjoyed it. Really good read. Well done all concerned!

Noticed the cheers seemed very quiet when we scored as well, what a cracking club we have and the Doncaster public should be ashamed

I heard both goals go in and I was at home in Hyde Park watching TV.

All I could manage as the third went in was lots of knee knocking together noises - and hyper shivering noises from my frozen bones

Sit in the SE corner, Donny Dog entertained youngsters with dancing and playing about for ages. Whoever is in there does a damn fine job!
