there are at best a dozen people on here who don't rate fergie and what he did for this club. I've no idea why they don't see what he did for this club.
I agree with what the OP says. He took the crap aging useless team that Dickov left us with and turned it into something with massive potential.

I also love the way some people accuse him of making the keepmoat a turgid boring place. For crying out loud don't they remember how dire it used to be in the last year of SOD's reign, how utterly utterly crap it was under Saunders and Jones and then how Dickov brought things to an all time low.

Get a grip guys. I'm not saying he was perfect. And I agree his loanee's were generally shite but overall he did a great job for this club and after SOD Bremner and Penny he would be one of the best we've had.

Spot on, it’s always just the same few people that come on to slag Ferguson off.
McCann is doing a better job so far in my opinion, but to say Ferguson isn’t good enough for league one is nonsense he’s won promotion twice out of the division.
He took over when we were bottom of the table under Dickov and a squad full of over paid players that weren’t good enough.
We were dreadful that season before he took over and he got us on the verge of the playoffs only to get relegated. If he’s struggled in the same vein as we had already that season he wouldn’t have received the criticism he did, he was a victim of his initial success.
He got us promoted scoring a shit load of goals and with 5 games to spare, probably one of our best seasons ever.
And we consolidated our position in this league last season which is what most people were hoping for.
He also signed us
Mason, wright, Andrew, lawlor, Anderson, whiteman, Rowe, Blair, may, Marquis,
Transformed our squad

Anyone who boos needs sectioning

McCann has us playing more attractive football with a similar looking squad, and I hope we continue. He’s looking like being a great appointment

Certainly some good signings by him - but let us not fall in to the trap of making him some footballing Warren Buffett. Long contracts handed out to Evina, Lund, Middleton etc who he then basically refused to play. Signing Etheridge then ruining his career. Bad loan signings.

The clue is in the name though: “manager” and he struggled to manage. He delivered largely very poor football in League One and largely poor results in League One. The team looked ill-managed and as a result it was often not enjoyable to watch us play and we were all sacrificed on his alter of bizarre and ineffective formations that delivered only getting the worst out of an otherwise talented group of players.

We got promoted (not as Champions mind) off the back of a massive budget for League Two.

Some good signings, some bad signings, some professional changes to the club, some unprofessional comments while at the club, largely poor football and unable to cut it at League One level, so for me (and perhaps others) I would give him 6/10 - maybe 7/10 on good day.

I think our "supporters" are largely to blame for Etheridge.

Ferguson did well off the pitch and with some of his recruits. Lost his way on the pitch. McCann way better.

Ferguson is like someone who builds and flies their own plane, and is for the most part great at building it, but shite at flying it.

Then says the air traffic controller should be shot when he crashes it.

Saw the two sides of him today. Quite touching that he walked across the pitch to congratulate several of his Rovers signings.

But his side was a reflection of they way he was as our manager. Joyless, niggly and ill-discipined.

Well listening to the chants today, it certainly sounds like it is more than a few who are glad to see the back of Ferguson.
Agreed he had an eye for a player but he has no motivational skills and his football was shite to watch.

To be honest, those chants were a result of how the game was going, and not at the start of the game..

If you look at his record with other clubs he’s very good at flying planes at this level, he’s strugggkd at championship level but not really a surprise when your Peterborough manager in the championship.

Mediocre manager for us. He will be remembered by me for an avoidable relegation, a thrown away title and too many late goals conceded.

Good luck to him after today though, I quite liked him to be fair.
:that: :that: :that:
Its a good job you quite like him mush otherwise you might have stuck the boot in a bit
Signed DW - who spent most of second half shouting "shoot that Ref" to him (imbecile - me not him)

Wasn’t his side, wasn’t his players.
We were in a proper state when he took over

But your not giving him credit for that

He was his victim of his own success when he took over nobody in their right mind would’ve thought we would’ve been where we were 3 months later.

I was giving him credit for that but the relegation was down to him and sticking with a system that clearly wasn't working.

You’ve never given him credit for taking us from the bottom of the table to the top 10 nor for the easiest promotion we’ve ever achieved.

Anyhow it’s irrelevent we had these discussions 2 years ago, we’re never going to agree.
Time to move on

If Wilkes played for anyone else we would all despise him, but he doesn’t so we love him
