Not a lifelong contract ... shame on the club.

He’ll get at least a coaching job when he finally packs in...if he wants it that is.

Just having him around will benefit the young lads. Even if he just plays 30 - 45mins a game he will benefit the team next year.

He can keep going longer if he stays in the same shape. Inspirational. He should definitely be offered a coaching role when he dies eventually hang those golden boots up.

When he retires his shirt and boots should go into a glass cage with all the other cups and things

When ever one of the younger lads does an interview, copps is mentioned with massive admiration and respect . That is so important when the new talents are being developed...  he's club captain without an armband as far as I'm concerned...

Great news, & sentiment aside, he has thoroughly deserved it after this season.

Fantastic news Copps has been absolutely magnificent this season - I’ve run out of superlatives to lavish on him except to say I can’t remember any one player giving me so much pleasure as Copps does

Brilliant news to be able to see him play for at least another season... his form this season more than deserves it too.... do you think his number 26 shirt should be retired once he finally does.

No one will ever live up to the great man. I'd retire the shirt.

Saying that, I'd name my first born after him if I get the chance...

That might not be so good Red, regarding derby games if we have to play in League 1 again next season. I know we have gained Rotherham and Lincoln, but we've lost Barnsley, Bradford, and Scunny, and Mansfield might not make it through the play-offs.

If Mansfield were to be promoted and we weren’t though I would have definitely swapped Barnsley,Bradford and Scunthorpe for Rotherham,Lincoln and Mansfield. 3 proper tasty derbies them.

There might just be one player still going who tops Coppinger's longevity.

Kevin Ellison signed for Morecambe at the age of 32 years and 5 months.

On Saturday, he made his 367th appearance for them.
