Live now on facebook. Some interesting insights.

One so far.
McCann had a set idea of what he was willing to pay a player in each position. And if the player didn't like that, he was happy for them to go as he had faith in himself finding a replacement.

Implying the application process will be more flexible this year - they will move if the right man shows interest.

Stuart McCall didn't interview well last time, and wouldn't be in the running this time because of that.

Alot of interest in the job already.

To Hull??

He doesn't know that, just that everyone high up at the club expects him to leave and he wants to leave himself.

At least if McCann moves for Marquis we know that he’ll make a big bid in the region of £5 million rather than trying to nick him on the cheap. Because as he said recently he knows how much these goal scorers are worth. And he is a man of his word.

Yes it will. GM didn’t start until 30th of June and we finished 6th.
New manager will be in place i am sure by 8th July at the latest.

But the major difference was McCann had a ready made side, he only needed to add 2 loan signings.
The next manager will need an awful lot more than that, and will have three weeks to do it

In that case Dickos we need to say we are DRFC and we will fight to the last to make this season a good one.
We will fight against the odds and shake a few teams up.
We are DRFC. And won't take this lying down.

Can’t see how you’d think that’s plenty of time.

It’s going to be another week until they close the application process, then they have to interview them so it’s probablt going to be 10-14 days.
Then the new manager has to assess the squad and then he’s got to identify players and try and sign them.
Not to mention working with the new players and getting them into they way we want to play

Not quite right Dickos...
Yes the players were there but they were not in the right formation...GM saw that, and fixed it...
This time ...all the players are in the correct formation, they just need adding to ....

So! In my opinion....
Any new manager will have the guts of a strong squad that play good football the correct way, all he has to do is recognise where to strengthen, and all managers like to bring in one or two that they already know...

Exciting times ahead, don’t ya think?
Or are ya just gonna whinge and whine all season, and spoil it for yaself lol

It is right,
Formations are irrelevant each manager will have his own idea of the formation they want to play.
It cannot be argued that the new manager has a squad as good as the one McCann inherited.
It’s been decimated this summer and whoever comes in has a massive job ahead.
When McCann came he had
2 very good goalkeepers
3 very good centre halves
2 very good full backs
5/6 experienced midfielders
4/5 experienced attackers

We don’t have anything like that now

Most of that is subjective and closer scrutiny will uncover differing opinions on the actual quality of said personnel

And formations are “ very relevant” ....Everyone could see we had many players playing out of position before GM arrived, hence the better quality last season....

Do you not see ANY positivity at all ?
I mean there is absolutely nothing that you or anyone else can do to alter these events!
If you read the forum last year when DF quit you will see exactly the same cut and paste meltdowns.....and yet we survived....

Try thinking about the positive possibilities, not the negatives that can’t be changed.....

We have a shorter transfer window this year so the new boss will be squeezed from both ends. With Whiteman and Marquis sure to Leave I’m expecting whoever comes in to struggle.

The point being a new manager will come in with his own views on formations.
So just because in your opinion it was good last year a new manager will do what he believes in.
The squad was in a much better state this time last year and I’m not sure anybody else has attempted to argue otherwise

You seem very very pessimistic about most things Rovers. You seem determined to highlight the negatives about every situation. Yet, up to last season you were the absolute polar opposite! What’s happened to make you change so much? Something has triggered this change in your attitude. What is it?

I’m not pessimistic at all, what McCann has done and how he’s acted has wound me up yes.
Not sure what the board could’ve done other than offer him more money to stay (maybe they did)
I’ve a gripe with waiting for people to apply and going through all that rather than identifying who we want and trying to go get him.

I was nothing but positive last season also, it didn’t end the season before

OK, woke up this morning and come to thinking it is what it is.
In terms of where we go from here, it is what it is, we go again.
So with the new season just around the corner, in terms of not much time to prepare the squad, it is what it is, we deal with it and move on so it is.

At least we don't have to hear the same soundbites trotted out now, we'll have some new ones to listen to soon. Hooray.
