Gutted. I noticed the other day he’d liked a Barnsley FC post on twitter and it made me wonder

Just what happens when you come close. Players think they can step up so do...

Tough summer for us but the trick is to get better.

Saw a report that said Leeds weren’t letting any go out until they had sorted there own business but said that Barnsley want him. Loads of Leeds fans want him round the first team.

Good luck to the lad hope he does well and know that we helped get him to the player he can be

He has lots in his favour.

It's been a mystery to me for many years why Barnsley, a much smaller town than Donny, with the same coal mining history, should have a bigger football club, with a bigger stadium, bigger budget, and bigger fan base.

I just don't get it. It's as though the people of Donny just want a racecourse and plenty of pubs and clubs.

It's a good opportunity for him but he will need to be more consistent. And maybe tackle a bit more as he will be doing a lot more defending...

I think the question about a fee being involved was probably because of the suggestion that we would have had to pay a fee to get Middleton from Rangers on a season long loan.

Steve, they have never been in the Conference and have had one or two good cup runs and also had a season in the top division.
They have never dropped as low as we have plus have been higher than us. Maybe their fans are also a little less flaky than some of ours.

No surprise really. He's fulfilling the next stage of his development. Good luck to him. At least it's not Hull!

I would expect Kane to follow suit sooner or later.

Had we have made it up to the Championship then we would have been in prime position for their services again.

I can't be bothered to do the full research to back this up, but I believe that a lot of the reason is due to the fact that whenever Rovers have had a bad spell, there's been a local-ish club enjoying success and therefore poaching the stragglers from Rovers. It's then become a generational thing.

Very surprising if he's coming to us on loan as we've moved away from recruiting players in this manner .

Possibility that we are buying him as we've a decent budget this season , by our standards at least .

With the sale of Lindsay to Stoke the other day and the club stating the money will be go into the budget Stendel has £8m given £6m was already made available .

I suspect we will hold some back for January but he's attainable if he's not wanting ridiculous terms , he will get a four year deal too .

That said the court case may have a bearing on the loan and possibly why we may only commit to one year with a view to buying him should he walk free .

Funny one is this and some legs in the story as we've known for a few weeks over here that he's a target and Stendel is an admirer of the lad .

I'm not surprised at the number of spellings when you consider people on this forum couldn't agree on the spelling of Sharp.

SS Amazingly Barnsley have spent more years in the 2nd tier of English Football than any other club in the country.

We have had about 14 years in total at that level.

That & their season in the Premier League is why they have a bigger fan base.

Population or desire to have a successful team is not a factor, it’s just the history of the clubs.

I would have thought if The Weeds wingers transfer to Spurs goes through Malik Wilks would be the shoe in to take his place, if he passes his audition at Wetherby  and pre season training that is.
