Keepmoat Stadium
« on July 07, 2019, 11:21:07 am by WheatleyRover »
Will we ever see any improvements to the KM, and i don't mean an increase in capacity, i mean more aesthetics, i love the ground, but feel the roof design really lets it down, it needs more features.

It would of been good if at least the main stand would have had roof supports showing on top to give the ground different dimentions instead of being the same the whole way around, even some flags on the roof, an old style clock in the centre of one of the stands.

Any thoughts, sorry i'm a bit bored.

I made this post because i've just seen the Scunthorpe plans

It's just annoying when you see Rotherham and Scunthorpe which are smaller grounds, yet look bigger than ours

Rather the money been put to better use than "aesthetics" to be honest in building a new squad for example.

Funnily enough I think our aesthetic is great, especially with the floodlight design..

Apart from decoration, and rail safe standing seats, is pretty good for me..

Sooner put cash into youth and first team rather than aesthetics. It is new and it works.

Yeah i like the floodlights, we don't have to do anything extravagant, and agree with the above money going into the squad is top of the list.
Just would like to see some flags or something, and old style clock with the Rovers Badge on or club name.

All it needs is a fresh coat of paint round the outside to be honest.

Not sure how Scunny's ground looks bigger than ours? It's very dated and ramshackle looking to say it was only built 30 years ago.

Rotherham's ground looks big but then it's not set at ground level, and for me the cascading roof design looks stupid.

Given nobody else is ever going to be in a position to use this commercially - and the fact we have this on a 90+ year lease (we were only in Belle Vue for 84 years) - the stadium is as good as our stadium. If we were to leave then the council would most likely demolish the stadium as it can never be used otherwise and the cost of subsidy or mothball would fall on tax payers. At present council gets minimum 100k per year from us.

The design on the outside is pretty shoddy to be fair. Bit of wall art/red and white painted sections/more Donny badges etc wouldn’t go amiss.

The blue, green etc colours on each corner look pretty awful and I know it’s for people to know where abouts they are but surely that what stand names are for?

Anyone know why behind the goals are so far away from the pitch compared to most other grounds?

not once , even in the early days did the coloured corners help direct me to my turnstile...  I found that the number above the turnstile more.or less did what it was supposed to do...

Would love to see it given a face lift, it needs it.

Painted red, and flag poles on the roof etc...

Kind of like belle Vue got, it wouldn't cost the earth.  (pun intended!)

everybody that's got a house knows that if you don't keep spending on it , it starts to look tatty.
I think there was a fair bit of cost cutting from the original design to the as built version, which is just about alright.
Football has always been about entertainment as much as the actual sport , and the visit to the Keepmoat is part of the entertainment experience and I do find the'  shawshank redemption ' style concourse interiors very grim. the concrete blockwork does a job but couldn't some of it be plastered and decorated ?
they have tried a bit with banners and stuff to be fair but a lie more could be done. Some coloured tiling in the toilets and stuff for example.
Getting the stadium built at all is an achievement but I would have liked that to have been a  starting point.
I would suggest more solid masonry at the north and south ends as I suspect the ' tin can ' cheap cladding is what leads to the very poor acoustics in the ground.
Though I am sure more people would come it the ground was better probably not enough to pay for it though. After 10 years of ( so called ) ' austerity ' cuts Donny council can't do anything  much , even though it would be an investment  , the club makes a loss as it is ,so hard to say where the funding would come from,  some generous benefactor ?
Anyway - new manager first eh.

It's not rented. DRFC have a 99 year lease on it.

Is the lease held by DRFC or by Club Doncaster Foundation?
Genuine question.

It's just a redevelopment of the existing Glandford Park stadium and is due to be phased in over the next few years. I would suggest they're more concerned about the apartments and other facilities than the stadium itself.

At this moment, the Keepmoat is in a lot better state than the MK Dons stadium.

Sorry, ignore my previous post about MK Dons stadium, someone sent me a picture of flames pouring out from the stadium last night, apparently it was the pyrotechnics from a heavy metal rock band in concert. (Controlled flames) I stupidly jumped to conclusions that the stadium was being raised to the ground.  Egg/face etc....

Apart from ongoing maintenance for safety, hygiene, anti-deterioration etc there’s nowt wrong with the stadium in my opinion..

I loved belle vue but that ground was knackered.!!
