Red card ruling
« on November 23, 2019, 07:15:55 pm by graingrover »
In the past, yellow cards picked up in the Premier League, football leagues, FA Cup or Carabao Cup would be added up together. ... However, the changes this season will see yellow cards only counting in the competition in which  they are received. Red cards will continue to count across all competitions.
Does this mean that a three game suspension for a red card given in a EFL game can be patly  ‘discounted’ by an FA Cup game .

How many games out.? 3?

Does it include the leasing trophy game vs Leicester U21?  If so, he would only be suspended for one league fixture.

Are the FLTrophy competition matches considered to be first team ones?

the leicester game is not classed as a first class fixture..    at least that is what's been said regarding counting up goals for strikers?  Who knows....

I thought it was 2 for a straight red, which became 3 if you appealed and failed?

So we’ve gone from lots of options at CB to being a bit limited - assuming Daniels injury isn’t a shake it off one. So we’ve got Wright and an unfit John? Or is Sheaf going to drop in as he’s played CB before? Either way it’s a massive loss.

Only date available is 17th Dec. The 10th will be allocated for a replay with Gillingham if we draw the game next week. The week before we play Leicester in the Leasing .com trophy.

They changed this last season, I believe yellow cards are competition specific but red cards are not. So Anderson will miss our next three games in all competitions as far as I know.

It's 3 for a straight red, 4 if you appeal and fail, and the appeal is considered unnecessary.

At least Anderson was sent off whilst trying to defend - Ben Pringle was sent off for Gillingham yesterday for repeatedly swearing at the official - he will also miss the FA Cup tie...

it does also depend what the straight red is for though aswell

If it’s gone down as S1- serious foul play it’s a 3 match ban, 4 if appealed and lost.

Not necessarily Mustapha. The appeal can be lost and still remain on 3, if the panel decide there was a justifiable reason to appeal, but not enough to overturn the original decision.

However, if the appeal is considered to be unwarranted, they'll increase the ban to 4 matches.

there doesn’t need to be contact,it’s classed as dangerous play even if you win the ball cleanly

Definitely being held by the Wycombe player, which would have had the effect of altering his centre of gravity.

Just saying.

Not disputing the red, but there are mitigating circumstances as said above.

3 matches seen a bit harsh considering it would have been the same if he'd smacked someone in the gob! Violent conduct does not describe a mistimed lunge with no malice. Dangerous play. Yes.

About time they reviewed the punishments.
