Not sure what people are basing their selections on here.
Some of the players being mentioned are a long way from being shit.

David Roche was a decent player! As was Lee Turnbull. Had my photo with Kev Noteman as he was my fave player when I was mascot and Stevie Adams could put a cross in!

The most shit was Justin Jackson, but I don't think he was loved by many.

Carl Aford made Justin Jackson look like Ronaldo imo BB
For someone who had scored over 60 goals in 2 seasons for Stevenage i still can’t get my head around how bad he was.

You can’t be serious. Tierney was an extremely talented player but never seemed much of an athlete - not sure I’ve ever really seen a slower winger. His technique was a class above pretty much everyone at that level. He was a very good player for us, that goal just cemented his status as a legend.

I used to like Ricky Ravenhill , he got a bit overshadowed by Paul Green, but Ricky did play over 450 matches as full time professional. Is he still involved in the youth set up,coaching one of the age groups ?

If you read Robbie Flower’s autobiography he mentions that Sir Francis was one of the best young players of his group and Liverpool were going to sign him but he kept getting injured so they signed Danny Murphy instead

You beat me to it Bob. Haselden was a great servant as was Trevor Ogden, (or did he mean John Ogston, who was excellent)? Bobby Gilfillan was as important as Jeffrey and Sheffield for us.

It was that post which prompted me to ask where some of the names of players on this thread were coming from.

Given my somewhat prolonged absence from these pages I have a vague memory that since-1969 might have previous in the ridiculous lunacy arena. Or am I making that up? Apologies in advance if so 1969. Brickbats in advance if not :) As he can't spell two of the three names he mentions, I do wonder about his knowledge...

Agree with that DD, Prince Moncriefe and Padi Wilson who were both strikers from the 1997/98 season would have more than an evens chance of getting a game in our current squad.

Do you mean John Ogston, keeper we got from Liverpool? If so, he certainly doesn’t come into the s***e category imo.

I always had respect for Nick Fenton after he tried to run off a broken leg. Now there's commitment to the cause!

There have been some daft suggestions on this thread but reckons this trumps the lot. Never heard a Rovers fan call the Sarge shit.

Carl Alford !! He was a crock

No one loved Carl Alford. Opposition fans maybe but not any of our own.

My memory was that the crowd were actively sucking the ball into the net for him every time he played, but he was dire and only scored one goal in his time. Think he got mega support from the fans all the way through. Whereas Justin Jackson arrived with a similar reputation, outscored him by some distance but was universally scorned by the fans.
