I accept that the current government were not elected by the majority of people eligible to vote, and not even by a majority of those who did vote.  But that's our current system, and until it changes the country will continue to get the government it deserves.

The truth is that the British people got the government that they elected.

Surely, they deserve what they elected?
 
I accept that the current government were not elected by the majority of people eligible to vote, and not even by a majority of those who did vote.  But that's our current system, and until it changes the country will continue to get the government it deserves.

We have to get the wording right though.
It is the government that WE elected, not that THEY elected.
A bit like when the Brexiteers say “the people have spoken” and tell us that WE Voted to leave.
Only a small proportion of people who were eligible to vote in the referendum actually voted to leave.
