Common sense all round really as much as we don't like it. I wish him well and hope he shines. Great lad!

Although if I am being honest I would have preferred him to go elsewhere, even Leeds.!

I wish Herbie nothing but the best but it’s heartbreaking to see him join up with that c**t of a manager.

That’s one New Year’s wish dashed.
 :crying:

All the best, Herbie - you have been sorely missed this season.

I’m torn with this one.  I want him to do really well and become a good player but if it helps Hull and McCann especially I’m not sure

He didn’t do a bad job here.. the only problem was him leaving the way he did and when he did..

If he manages to make the playoffs on Hulls budget he could be off again

I posted this on another thread yesterday. Malik going to Hull is also on the cards. A bid for Whiteman is also a consideration.

He may as well just change their home kit to red and white hoops

Good luck to Herbie. Hope he does well. I too would have preferred he had gone to Leeds United or Sheffield Wednesday.

We must though remember that McCann took us to the play offs last season.
We played some cracking football, scored lots of goals and i don’t remember too many criticising him during the later part of the season when the play offs were beckoning.

He was a very good manager for us and we should not lose sight of that fact.
Also proving himself to be a very good Championship manager as Hull City are doing much better than i thought they would this season.

Yes he completely contradicted his loyalty mantra in the summer when he jumped ship and consequently made himself a villain to all Rovers fans.

But very little loyalty in football i am afraid. Money talks. Moving up a Division is too irresistible for many managers and players.
We have to accept it, move on and look forward to putting one over him in the next season or two.

It’s the level he needs to playing especially on loan. If Hull sell Bowen they may come calling again I hope not

It shows that personal relationships still count in the world of football ...Fergie and Cantona is the most outstanding example and in general many managers choose players they know already and over whom they have influence .

Thank God for that! At least we can move on now and free up some forum time now all the Herbivores understand that he aint coming back. Oh wait a minute - its only a loan so they may still be living in hopes that it may happen in the summer. Groan. Groan. Groan.

It’s hard to ignore that we are tripping over solutions to our progress  like Kane or  Wilks etc and we are unable to pursue them . Until we  get into the Championship we have no powers of influence with players or clubs . All the club can do is tough it out year on year until we have a squad capable of promotion .

Classic one there arkseyrover Herbivores ! Made me chuckle anyway

You are right though he has gone - out of our grasp - and I for one will watch him as long as I can and see if he eclipses Tony Woodcock regarded as probably our best loanee ever by those of a certain age

There is a good parallel with the Herbivores because like him lots and I mean LOTS of Rovers fans thought a cheeky bid and TW would be "ours" but I couldnt see it happening as he was massively too good for us - and proved it with 42 (?) England Caps

Hull tend to sign their loan players with a view to a permanent deal being agreed. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this one in the summer. I think Kane needs to leave Liverpool to progress his career.

As IDM said, McCann did an excellent job for us. It's the manner of his departure and Hull's underhand approach that leaves the bad taste. Kitsons.

Herbie & Malik are deservedly playing in the Championship which, at this stage of their careers, is the ‘right level’ for them to be playing at.

We are not a Championship club.

We cannot afford to pay players Championship wages.

Not yet....

No real surprise here and I don’t think we ever really stood a chance of getting him back... sentiment aside, who would Herbie even entertain the thought of playing again at this level after such a successful season last year?

I hope he does well, even if it for McCann and Hull. Really hope he kicks on with his career as the next couple of seasons could be massive fro his future.

At least it’s done and dusted now aswell and we can move on throughout January without everybody saying we are signing him etc.

Can’t argue with last season in both how we played and where we ended up. It was after the season ended and GM dismantling the team quoting loyalty and then doing one that irks. I can’t honestly blame him for moving on, if only he hadn’t preached first. Absolutely no respect for Hull in how they handled things. Can’t wait for a prem club to approach GM underhandedly

Just been watching Rotherham Vs Hull.

Christ, Hull are dreadful. Our team from last season would have played them off the park.
