Yes we have. Our defence is really good. Add dieng into that as well and it’s our strongest part of the squad by far

Wish we had the same quality in the final third. Ennis put a shift in and it makes you wonder how much better he would be playing off a striker.

This is our best back 4 since 2012/13 by a mile.
DM knows how to organise a defence. It’s really very evident.

If we had better players in the final third then DM would show he could do that as well.

We have got good players. Ennis showed that tonight. Yes he is inexperienced.
Sadlier and Taylor are very good players who have not shown enough consistency.
Sadlier is still young and learning and Taylor is a flair player and is not always going to come off.
When he is on song he is unplayable at this level.
We have not had a settled front formation due to injuries. And due to depth of the squad it has set us back.

If we had a Marquis/Norwood type front man & the 11 that started tonight + Cameron John and Matty Blair.
That is 14 players that would be as good as there is in this league imo.

To be fair we have played fewer games than most but we do seem to have tightened up nicely. The confidence must also be growing game by game. It's also taking a bit of pressure off the forwards thinking that one goal might be enough for a win sometimes now.

Defence is class overall were good too we just had a month or two without a striker that’s cost us. Hopefully that’s our bad spell out the way so we can get playoffs

When I first saw Halliday i had my doubts but as he has settled in he’s proving he’s a fine full back and will improve.

Don’t forget the confidence Seny gives.

What surprises me as well is we're about 7th offensively. Good ingredients considering and could be the recipe for success!

They've scored 40% of the league goals this season from a combined 42 games - what more do you want?

Agree with all this, but with John injured and Daniels back at Luton, we badly need one or possibly even two experienced defenders as cover.  Fingers crossed they are not needed, but we are only one injury or sending off away from a problem.

I don’t think we really need any more cover unless sumone pops up on radar as John is nearly fit again although that is twice now been injured this season just hope he isn’t prone to it,and on top we have Blaney and Amos aswell as sheaf if needed to cover and add in Matty Blair as full back cover.

Ignore him Campsall, he has been banging this drum since the beginning of the season. What Steve@dcfc seems to have ignored is that as well as having a a good defensive record, we have the 5th best goals for in the league as well with 34 and one of the best shots on target across the leagues 1 &2 as well which could be better if would no doubt be better had we played all our games instead of having them in hand still.

That aside, as you have said already, we have a very, very good front 4 which is once again showing its significant capabilities now we have a settled starting eleven and attack. We also defend from the front 3 right through the side as well.

Since 2012-13 title winning season I would say. Was disappointing when we lost Danny Andrew but think James is more than adequate replacement.

On the subject of Danny Andrew,I noticed he scored his fourth goal of the season last time out. Another cracking free-kick,no disputing his class from set pieces.

James is a better player defender and probably all round player imo. Andrews has quality delivery though it has to be said. Overall i'd take James over Andrews any day

On there day they are the best or one of the best in this league, but sometimes playing out we can look very silly, but in general answer in one YES

Amazing improvement since we got rid of the blood nut back to Luton.

We defend well as a unit, not just the back four. All deserve credit for it.

some interesting comments on this thread praising the back four as a defensive unit.

That's good to hear but I read on here a couple of weeks ago that the back four were all good individual players but were struggling to work as a unit.

So whats changed? As Cameron John's injury been a blessing in disguise or is Joe Wright getting sharper?

I don’t remember that.?

It’s been one of our strengths all season, the defensive unit..

My only worry is that DM is taking the easy option shoehorning John in at left back, could he really drop Joe or Tom!

Reece James should be our first choice LB.
Cameron should have to wait to get back into the team.

We’ve conceded 23 goals all season so it’s all players that have played in defence and the middle two that have contributed.
