Final League Table
« on January 12, 2020, 08:19:14 pm by Campsall rover »
Just for a bit of fun.

My final league 1 table prediction.

1.  Ipswich Town
2   Rotherham United  ( ouch that hurts )

3.  Portsmouth
4.  Sunderland
5   Doncaster Rovers
6   Coventry City

7   Oxford United
8   Wycombe Wanderers
9   Peterborough United
10  Fleetwood Town
11  Burton Albion
12  Gillingham
13  Blackpool
14  Shrewsbury Town
15  Lincoln City
16. Accrington Stanley
17. MK Dons
18. Bristol Rovers
19. Rochdale
20  Wimbledon

21 Tranmere Rovers
22 Bolton Wanderers
23 Southend United

The above table is on the proviso we sign a decent striker before the end of this window and at least one other addition which i would expect to be a midfielder.

Due to injuries we will need 2 more bodies to see us through the season.
I am 99% sure DM will bring those players in. He is playing a waiting game with Norwich ( just my take on it ) and he will have 3/4 as possible back ups.

So that table is complete speculation but would be surprised if it didn’t look something like that on eve of 3rd May.

I think that we'll finish 5th or 6th.

Higher if we secure a striker (to at least support Ennis) and have cover of one in midfield and one out wide.

My prediction has the same top 6 but:

1) Rotherham(doesn’t hurt as we’ll have 6 points off them)
2) Sunderland

3) Portsmouth
4) Ipswich
5) Rovers
6) Coventry

Just got a feeling about a great big long run from Sunderland.

Oxford are the best team I've seen in this league this season. For me they'll be either top 6 or top 2.

I think I'd have it about the same at this stage.

However, I wouldn't write Wycombe off for the Play Offs just yet as everybody is. Terrible run they're on but they are still capable of being the side that race out in 1st place for the first half of the season.

So maybe them in the top 6 instead of Sunderland for me. Rovers to finish 8th.

Oxford are the team i am not sure about at the moment.

Did say i fancied Oxford for the play offs before season started and they impressed me very much at the Kassam Stadium.
They are just going through a little blip at the moment and they have brought in a few new players which just might work against them if they change what has been working for them previously.
Certainly not writing off their play off chances as i think they have every chance of making it. Who do they displace in that top 6 though, that’s the question.
I do think it will be 6 from 7 with Wycombe, Peterborough and Fleetwood missing out.  :byebye:

Cream always rises to the top. That top 7 in my league are imo the best 7 teams in this league.
Only time will tell if i am right.
There is certainly no guarantee of that as my predictions are usually pretty flawed.
So maybe we are destined for top 2 and i was being a tad pessimistic.

Based on that table we could play Posh in the play off final.
Who do you think would win?

We’d have to beat Rotherham first,

We’ve beaten Peterborough twice this season so no reason why we wouldn’t again

6 points separating the top 7 and half the league with play off aspirations .

Sunderland and Ipswich back in the game which would be a worry for me if I were a Miller , possibly may have peaked too soon Rotherham .

The league looks slightly different from last season where five clubs were significantly over the course of 46 games  better than the rest .

Both Sunderland and Ipswich have the pull to attract the signings this month who could see them kick on and cement the top two .

The play offs are a different kettle of fish , Rovers get in them and they've as much chance as anybody , that's the beauty of them and why I was shytin myself last season should we have had to negotiate our path through them .

League form counts for nowt .

No I didn't want a Rovers v Barnsley Play Off semi final despite finishing 21 points above you .

Well within your capabilities to grab a play off spot and then its down to the break of the ball and possibly whose name is on it .

Rovers v Millers play off semi final .

You heard it here first .

Ipswich will not win the League, Lambert very rarely play's the same side and keeps rotating the squad , which will be their undoing IMO.
Their recent form isn't good also , their Last 6 league games, L L D L D W which is 16th in the form table.  :byebye:

Neither ourselves or Luton were guaranteed automatic promotion spots last season going in to the final week of the season ... despite

Ourselves going 20 games unbeaten and Luton 24 and both on over 90 points .

There's isn't anybody shown so far this season that they can emulate that and so it's absolutely wide open in my opinion .

If Rovers can stay within five or six points of the automatics going in to the business end and reel off let's say five wins and a draw out of the last six remaining games then who knows .

Ipswich and Sunderland possibly have the bigger pull this month in the window  but that comes with pressure too .

Pressure that Rovers don't have .

I just think Ipswich have gone through their blip and will hit form again.
May well be wrong as i didn’t even have them in my top 6 before the season started. I wasn’t convinced about them at all.
But they are the same as us defensively and don’t concede goals.
That is always a huge positive.

Despite their relative poor start to the season, I still think anyone who finishes above Sunderland will get automatic promotion. They are far and above the best side I've seen at the Keepmoat this season (missed the Oxford game)
Peterborough have had a bad run, but have two excellent strikers and will start winning again soon. Portsmouth had a really bad start to the season but are on the up now. Personally I don't see Wycombe being in the play offs.
I'd be happy with a play off place this season, given the number of players we've had to choose from on a regular basis. But as we've seen, go on a bad run and it takes some getting out of

1. Sunderland
2. Ipswich
3. Portsmouth
4. Oxford
5. Rotherham
6. Peterborough
7. Coventry
8. Rovers

Money talks so Sunderland and Ipswich will have the strength in depth to pull away towards the end of the season.

I see it being very tight for 6th but our ten game run of relegation form, our many remaining away fixtures and waver thin squad will tell against us.

I've put Fergie to finish 6th just to wind CR up

I’ve watched nearly every full league one game from the last month, Rotherham and Oxford are the best two teams. Ipswich have been awful. I put Pompey up at 40/1 to win the league a month or so ago, they are scraping through games and aren’t very fluid but I think they could just click into gear at any time.

Pompey, Oxford and Rotherham the top three, not sure in what order.

Oxford will be less of a threat if the manager toddles off to Malaga!

Oxfordshire obviously.  ;)

The Cotswolds does have a bit going for it though.
It is prettier than the Costa del Sol.
May be the weather might swing it for Robinson.

youve sat thru 10 or 11 full games every weekend? Regardless of the technical aspect of locating a live stream of every game, Sarfend V stanley anyone?,   Youve then gone on to record them all and watched 9 or 10 non rovers full games?? I can barely sit thru the EFL quest show highlights...  Where on earth do u find the time?

I have to ask the question that everyone is thinking?   WHY??
