To be fair it was Stendel who signed him. It could well be he just doesn't gel with the new manager. As we know he can potentially be a difficult character, luckily we had a manager last season who knew how to get him to channel that on the pitch.No chance of getting him permanently you'd have thought, they spent over a million on him and you'd think they'd want at least half of that back even if they were desperate to cut their losses.

I'm not sure about Maliks approach to this. Did he have a preference? I'm not sure on that one.Essentially it would be what's best for Barnsley.

Presumably when you say it’s best for Barnsley it’s because he can do some damage to other Championship clubs, but if they think he’s capable of doing that for a club pushing for the play offs then why wouldn’t he be capable of doing it for a club fighting relegation?

Presumably when you say it’s best for Barnsley it’s because he can do some damage to other Championship clubs, but if they think he’s capable of doing that for a club pushing for the play offs then why wouldn’t he be capable of doing it for a club fighting relegation?He just doesn't fit the system Struber plays Nick it's as simple as that really .The lads occupying the roles you could possibly shoehorn Wilks in are way ahead of him in work rate and product .Luke Thomas and Jacob Brown have massive energy , commitment and a final product and young Simoes comes off the bench to replace one of those two late in games and carrys on running the legs off defenders .I think you'd agree that's not Wilks's game , I don't think Struber trusts him to carry out what he demands out on the pitch .Stendel had him down to play wide left in his stock 4-4-2 system and we play a diamond formation under Struber .I'd personally like to keep him at Oakwell for at least another full season but to be fair Struber's not got much wrong since his arrival .
