The label with coronavirus is used to explain deaths with people who also have other conditions such as heart or diabetes etc.  the label of coronavirus  is for deaths that are considered happened to otherwise healthy patients.
That was the explanation of someone on TV when asked about the difference of  "with and of " on death certificates.

Hound, are you saying only those that have died from the virus without other health problems are being recorded as such?

There's been questions asked about where Priti Patel has been during the crisis.

Cooking up this f**king stupidity apparently.

Herd immunity?

I hope the question of why this is happening is asked at the daily briefing, I’ll not hold my breath it will be answered though

That one you'd question if it's required right now.

Through my work I've liaised with HMRC recently and had in conversation a chap complaining he was in work, but some of these guys have to work to keep the country going and cash moving etc, so there is a point where they have to have some at work to allow things to keep moving.

I'm genuinely astonished that Patel hasn't been at the daily briefings. Surely the Home Secretary is a key person in the policy of keeping the country safe. Yet who has seen her in the past 5 weeks?

We live opposite to a care home. We have seen a few coroners vans lately but today is the first time that the guys taking the body away have had protective suits and masks on. About four have died in the last week which is more than usual. That is just the ones seen when we have been about.

Yes I wonder why that is Billy ?

Then again I suspect we both know the game that is currently getting played out behind the scenes whilst this pandemic claims 99% of the news .

The cross party parliamentary inquiry won't be going away so I'd face the music if I was you Patel .

In your own time ............  :clapping:

Yes it is Sidney. I went across last night to tell a lady sat in a car that her lights were on. She told me that she wouldn't be long as her son was inside saying goodbye to his dad. She said that she couldn't face going in as it was so painful to see. I was surprised that they let the son in as there have been no visitors allowed for two weeks.
I kept two metres away from her and every time a relative comes to take personal effects away the items are left just outside the front door. The relative can then put them in the car when the staff member is back inside. It's really sad to see it happening so often. There is currently one ambulance there and a responder has just rolled up with the lights flashing.

What is all of this hysteria with the Media, constantly speculating for a Govt COBR meeting to lift the lockdown! am I thick or correct in my assumption that there needs to be a continued lockdown for another 3 to 6 weeks?

Wales figures are skewed, they’ve changed the way they report them, they say it will be back to normal on Friday, why they can’t all report in a consistent manner is beyond me, even through the weekend, it’s important data and every day should be reported in the same way, at the same time

Sydney, the gentleman was asked on TV, I presume a coroner, why some deaths were being recorded with coronavirus and some being recorded of cornavirus and what was the difference?
His explanation was, if someone had other underlying ailments and serious ailments that left them more vulnerable, they were recorded as with coronavirus.
If death was a direct result of coronavirus and no other underlying illness present that contributed to the death, it was recorded as of coronavirus.
Both were recognised in the numbers the interviewer just questioned the two different terms being used.

I’m getting more confused with the figures on a daily basis - every death tragic but the goalposts seem to move on a daily basis

I think rather than the goalposts being moved, we are just slowly learning there are so many idiosyncrasies in how deaths are recorded. I don't think anyone really anticiapted we would ever be in a situation where we needed to know accurate daily deaths numbers. It turns out they aren't measured/recorded in a reliable enough way to make the assumptions people have been making.

Someone posted the solution earlier in the thread - the more reliable figures to look at to see if we are getting on top of this thing is the rate of hospitalisation. Its less morbid also.
