copps over and out
« on January 30, 2020, 02:22:18 pm by South East Rover »
I hate to say this as he is one of my Rovers all time heroes, but he seems to be getting knocked
off the ball all the time and giving the ball away, he does one or two good things a game just
not enought and it makes me sad to watch is decline,I think it's time to say goodbye James i've loved watching you but it's just about over :( :byebye:

I mean, he nearly scored an absolute pearler in the Southend game so I'm not sure he's done yet. Man's made a career out of being written off prematurely though so it's nothing new.

Did you see how he cut in and smashed that cross ball against the upright in his last game though .Only he and Darren know how he is shaping up physically after all they have all the technology mapping performances .I hope your wrong .

Disagree. One more season definitely.
He has been our best player in at least 6/7 games this season and one of the best 2/3 players in at least another 6/7
He will not be m.o.m. every week and yes he will have off days but even on those off days he is capable of opening a defence and winning the game by doing it.
Legs have gone. How many times have we heard that in the last 5 years. No they haven’t not yet.
He will know himself when & if he feels he is not contributing enough to the team.

Just having him in and around the first team, even if he’s not playing is of massive benefit. I’m sure Darren Moore realises this and what he brings to the party. Definitely keep him for our title charge next season if it doesn’t work out this year.

Yes Father Time is catching him up but he’s played far more minutes this season than expected due to a very thin squad. As this is now changing it gives us the luxury of giving him a break to recharge the ageing batteries, I feel he has another season in him if managed properly, remember fitness wanes but class is permanent and this legend has that in spades.

Just to add, I don’t think I could stomach seeing him retire in another clubs colours

We are a far far weaker team going forward when he doesn't play.

I'm sure we must be looking to keep him going next year. If we were to go up to the championship next season I think he'd be very limited to game time, almost worth staying down to see copps play as much as possible

Bonkers post. He’s got another season and then he should be kept on as Club Guru for life.

What a pathetic thread to start when we’ve just had such a positive day.

Most supporters are buzzing, but there’s always the negative, ridiculous, inane moaners waiting to crawl out of the woodwork.

The next game you attend I suggest you ‘Copp Watch’.

Then come back on here & tell us again what you’ve seen.

I guess your arrogance has probably gotten the better of your judgement this time...lol

It’s a little dip in form ....that’s all!

I think hes been running into the ground, hes still got it upstairs, but, the legs are slowing down. He just needs a rest, then he'll be back as per, just like he always has, now we've brought in some new young blood he can be used more sparingly. Would be brilliant if he came off the bench at Wembley to stick the winner in the top corner, cos we all know it's the sort of thing he would do.

End of the day, no matter what any of our opinions are...only one man knows when the time is right and that is That Boy James Coppinger.  He will want his career ending on a high not a "drag myself through one more season".  If he has another year (or 5!?) in him, you're damn sure he will sign up for it!  Long Live The King !!

What dip in form?!

Mind you, this from someone who berates Whiteman because he says he’s ‘starting to play as poorly as Jordan Henderson’!

God forbid our two new strikers start & play like Sala & Firmino eh?!!😏

He's still better than most players in his position in this league and I'm sure a majority of the teams in League One would want him in their side. I think he should be put on our famous 1 year rolling contract and he can give up playing when it suits him. As for his legs have gone, he was still charging forward in the 90th min against Southend. I think there is still plenty in his tank.
