Kiwomya
« on February 01, 2020, 12:00:01 pm by Chris Black come back »
His deal is up in June I think. Would have thought that with him being now very far down the pecking order he might have wanted to go out on loan somewhere - anywhere - to get game time and prove himself for a deal somewhere else in June. Can’t see the lad getting on our bench for rest of season.

Is he even fit? Got a bad injury the other month to his ankle or foot didn't he?

That’s what I was thinking. Didn’t the original report say April on it?

As said above,I'm sure he's injured still. His whole time here has been a disaster really and he's had no luck whatsoever. He's a certainty to be leaving in the summer.

I feel really sorry for the lad. He came to us with a good name and potential

Caught that terrible virus.  He’s actually done good to come back from it

He’s obviously moving on. I just hope for him that he gets a club and it works out for him

Ok, so the kid's had a rough time, but why not offer him something?

Why should another club benefit from having a player of his ability on a lower than usual wage, due to the risk?

We now have the squad size to carry this sort of risk.

What ability ?? He’s certainly not shown any in a Rovers shirt

I think he likes being a footballer, but doesn’t seem overly keen on playing

He has played 6 minutes in League One this season.

More positively, he completed two 90 minutes in the Football League Trophy in October. He has not played since 29 October.

Sorry DRNaith but you have to be kidding. It is a shame he has been injured. That said almost every penny of his wages for three years have been a waste. The club will have funded his rehab and probably paid him the thick end of 150-250k for zero return. It is players and cases like him that are probably the reason we don’t offer long term deals out.

Illness and injuries aside, Unfortunately for him he will go down as one of our biggest flops in recent years and your suggesting we waste even more money on him by extending his contract. The ability he may have once had, Unfortunately he doesn’t anymore.

I'm only having a discussion here, I'm not saying what is right or wrong here, but we're ruling him out due to his past injuries and illnesses, regardless of potential for the future?

Fair enough. I've sacked people due to their character or attitude, never due to their health issues, but football is different world. Of course, we're not talking about sacking Kiwomya, we're just not looking to offer a new contract.

I'm just an old softy, looking for the best in a situation.

Would insurance not gave contributed during his illness?

I don’t have a clue to be honest? I imagine it is similar to being signed of sick in a regular job.

I’d be very surprised if the club haven’t got all the players insured for serious injury and critical illness. I would assume his issues would have been classed as critical illness.

Moving on might be the best thing for him.
Look how Alfie May is scoring for fun
Probably a poor comparison as May always looked ok
Just a thought that a new challenge might be what he needs to start him off again

I don't think some of you appreciate just how big an influence that serious illness has had on him.If you research it some people take years to recover from it,some don't at all.And that just for everyday activities never mind as a pro footballer.

The lad had bags of ability which is why we signed him in the first place.Yes he will be let go in June but I for one hope he rescues his career at whatever level he moves into..

We did just get really unlucky trying to do the right thing and sign a young talented player on a long contract, something we have all been calling for in transfers.

I'd think he'd be on a decent wage considering when he joined he was our start signing that window so when he does leave it should give DM some room in the budget for the summer

He's way too lightweight, the bits you see on YouTube don't paint the full picture with him, he dosent like a tackle, and you rarely see him bust a gut for the team, yes he had a bad virus but we move on he's not consistently good enough certainly at this level, should be no sentiment

agree with this. Mate of mine nearly died from it. It’s ravaged his immune system and now walks with a stomp. So for Kiwomya to get back to where he is is remarkable in my eyes. I honestly thought he would never play again.

We signed a player with a chronic injury and he’s spent two years injured. We deserve all we have got.

Really hope he gets proper fit and makes a career out of it. He always seems enthusiastic and is a decent polite lad. I can’t however really see a future in the hoops
