A little help for people in isolation.
« on April 21, 2020, 12:20:14 pm by Not Now Kato »

I keep hearing reports on TV and Radio that there are people in lockdown having difficulties with having to share one computer between several children. Others who don't have a computer but would benefit from having one.

I have three computers, (1 'all-in-one' Desktop, and 2 Laptops), which are now surplus to my requirements and I would like to donate these to anyone in that position free of charge.  All are fully working and have Windows 10 installed.  These are all my own personal property and I have cleared them down of any information pertaining to myself.

They are as follows: -

Lenovo C440 All-in-One Desktop.  21.5" Touch Screen Display. G2030 CPU. 500 gig Hard Drive. 4 gig of RAM. Wi-Fi & Ethernet. USB Keyboard & Mouse. Gone to redarmy82

Toshiba A660 Laptop. 16" Display. Intel i7 Gen1 CPU. 500 gig Hard Drive. 4 gig of RAM. Wi-Fi & Ethernet. Gone to tommy toes.

ACER Aspire 5920G laptop.  15.4" Display. Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 CPU. 250 gig Hard Drive. 4 gig of RAM. Wi-Fi & Ethernet. Gone to Arsenal of the North.

All will come with manuals and Ethernet cables for connecting to a router if required. The laptops will come with bags and power supplies.

I would recommend using the laptops on their power supplies rather than batteries.

All would suit surfing the net and basic home computing - don't expect to be able to run the latest high powered games though.

I'd like them to go to fellow Rovers supporters if possible.  If not then do you know of anyone/organisation who could collect them and distribute them to people in such a position.

I also have 2 Android mobile smartphones which again I would like to give away free to anyone in desperate need.  They are: -
 NEXUS 4
 NEXUS 5

Both fully working, in good condition with no cracks or scratches to the screen.

They would need to be collected from my house in Bessacarr as my wife and I are self isolating due to age and health conditions.

PM me for contact details if you would like one and say which you would like.

NB. THESE ARE BEING OFFERED FREE IN THE SPIRIT OF THE FORUM TO ANYONE IN GENUINE NEED OF THEM. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THEM TO SELL ON. THANK YOU

I'll update this as and when any of them are claimed.

Very generous NNK. My step-daughter bought a tablet yesterday as there always seemed to be one waiting for the other to finish. We had offered her one of our iPads but she said that they would use the money saved by now not having a holiday in May.
There must be many families less fortunate.

Even the most basic of phone, tablet. Computer etc can do video calls etc. In this current climate, that's a godsend to check up on elderly relatives...

Yes Adam, they will all support Skype and/or Zoom as they have built in web cams, so getting in contact with and checking on elderly relatives would be easy to set up.

The full specs of all the devices can be found via Google if anyone needs more detailed information.

Fantastic gesture NNK. I am sure your local school would be able to place them if no-one here takes up the offer.

A bump for the weekend and a few photographs....

The Lenovo....

The ACER....

The two Nexus Phones....

Surely someone out there could make good use of these, they're in very good condition indeed.

I've thanked NNK profusely for the gift of a really superb laptop, which has made a family member very happy and would like to thank him on here.

A great gesture from a terrific chap.
Thanks again NNK.

I'm surprised no-one else has taken him up on his offer.
Surely someone in your family would benefit from these fabulous gifts.

Thank you for the kind words Colin, glad it's gone to someone who will appreciate it and get good use out of it.   :)

Lenovo now gone to Redarmy82.

Only the two smartphones left.  Both are in very good condition, must be of use to someone.
