Just catching up on today's game,  but does anyone know why Ben Whiteman did not start the game today?

Thanks

I had read somewhere that Blackburn have, allegedly, made an offer for Ben

DM said on his interview post-game that there had been no offers. Ben was not risked as he had a slight knock and would return to training next week.

That’s right - although it was “no further offers”.

If there has been an offer that we are considering then I would hardly expect DM to announce it on a post match interview.

Having read Liams blog the middle three rotated in the first half so on occasions Richards was deep and other occasions Hasani was deep.

Barnsley must be coming back with an extra couple of quid on the offer every other day.

They’ve emptied the piggy bank, now they are shoving their hands down the back of the settee 😂😂😂

Perhaps they don't realise Kestrels aren't legal tender outside Barnsley?

Cough up Barnsley or shut up and look elswhere.

This must be a bit unsettling for Ben. He would imo be as well staying put until a club with more resources than Barnsley come knocking.
( No disrespect to them ) But yet another battle to stay up is most likely. We could even swop places at the end of this season. Quite possible.

Would not be a positive move for Ben imo.  It’s not going to happen, providing we stick to our valuation ( whatever that is of course ) & we will also, i am pretty sure be asking for at least 50% up front.

Would be extremely disappointed to see him going for less than 2 million.

It's a little bit odd. They seemingly keep bidding and mentioned him in the media.  Yet they also appear to have said he'd come in there and have to fight for a place and perhaps wouldn't be ready yet. I'm not sure that appeals to Ben.

No doubt he'll want to move upwards, we all would but he's professional and knows it has to be right for us and him.  It won't affect him, they tend to know the position in full these players.

Not heard of any other championship club bidding for the lad as yet , plenty of paper and digital media talk but nobody as yet other than ourselves making a formal bid .

Interesting ..........

You're right tyke however Barnsley still haven't met our valuation and just like your players will have a valuation on them Ben will remain our player until a time Barnsley or another club meet our valuation and Ben's wage demands.

Forest have a bit of cash available. That's where I'd be worried about.

We've just completed the signing of Isaac Christie - Davies from Liverpool , 22 years old central midfield player .

I reckon your lad won't be coming to us given that bit of business today .

But the thing is Tyke, the days of paying for players with lucky bags and green shield stamps have gone, you have to pay money and good money now

ironic you posted that when the Liverpool   kid didn't even cost two empty crisp packets  :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

"The midfielder spent time on loan at Cercle Brugge last season but was released by Liverpool at the end of the 2019/20 campaign."

We always seem to have 2,3or4 players to sell every summer, and replace with 5,6or7 kids who we sell 2 or 3 summers later, so we can’t be doing that bad with our budget of a pittance.

You do very well Dingle and all credit to you, Barnsley had the foresight to invest in youth years ago with your training facilities giving you an edge, but lots of clubs have now narrowed the gap even in non league.
I hope you do well, and would much rather see you flourish than most Championship sides, and like the clubs attitude of it isn't over until it is over that your team has had in abundance in the past.
However, reality is your team if it were not for circumstances off the field of play would now be a Division 1 side, and you need to make the situation pay over the next season about to start, which I hope you do, but things with a foreign owner who are only in the game for monetary gain which it seems you have, and things could look very different if you start to slip down into Division 1 and have to take a big hit financially.
