Maybe they are just scared of playing us right now.
A bit like Bolton were last season.

Surely whether or not the game goes ahead won’t have anything to do with whether they’re concerned about playing us - they can’t fabricate test results can they?

Have they got to have tests before every game, it would be interesting to know if they had tests before Saturdays game.

No fit strikers?

Apart from the League 1 top scorer?

I've read that as well. Surely they should have cancelled the Accrington game in case any of the town players have the virus too? Once they'd get results back they'd know in time.

He's a winger. Gomes isn't a striker and he was the league's top scorer the other week.

Ipswich currently have no fit centre forwards. I however don't think the game is in any doubt unless their entire squad has Covid.

If they get three +ve tests, the chances are their squad is riddled with it. The match has to be called off in that case.

Nope. Tests in the EFL aren't compulsory.

So the club went ahead with a game the day after one of their players fell ill and only considered testing for Covid 19 after that game.
I put that down as gross negligence putting the Accrington team in danger of contacting the virus and the  officials of the game and the danger of all of them carrying the virus back to different areas.

Are they really going to do a Bolton on us for the second season in a row? If so their result at the weekend should not stand because it should not have taken place.

Interesting.
On one hand EFL clubs don’t have to do testing of players before games.
On the other hand, Did IT know a player had tested positive just 24 hours before their match against Accrington but didn’t announce it and went ahead with the match.

I wonder if the EFL have a rule about this?

I would think most games would get cancelled if they had to postpone because someone had symptoms at this time of year

Unless Ipswich wish to pay £120 each for private tests for all their squad and staff then they will fall under government rules. Only people who have symptoms should get tests.

Anyone who lives with someone who has tested positive should self-isolate - but anyone who works with them should go to work as normal unless they show symptoms. There was/is a thread about it on here.

Now tell me, is it people breaking the rules that has caused the virus to spread - or are the rules wrong? It can of course be both.

So many questions wilts.
It must be difficult having to make decisions when people don’t know all the answers.

Hound I am not sure that the player had tested positive but reported in sick with symptoms according to the report in their local rag on Friday morning.
Obviously they then took the decision to continue with the game on Saturday v Accrington Stanley, whether the decision was then taken to test the whole squad before our game is not reported, but a so called big club like Ipswich I would have thought could have access to the new 20 minute test in any case.
I am myself sceptical that they are not trying to manipulate the situation to their own advantage having starting with us and Accrington a team in form a run of matches against some fancied teams in a short period and with a number of injuries to the fist team squad.
I still maintain that from Friday morning they were negligent with regard to the health of all participants in their game with Accrington and the wider population especially when a rapid test is now available and any cost of paying for testing is insignificant to a club like Ipswich or any other football club at league level as a one off precaution.
Wilts that cost to test the whole squad I would hazard a guess would not be any larger than probably one players weekly wage at Ipswich.
