Patience. What’s the massive rush.

Let the board go through the process so we end up with the right appointment.

This is a huge decision for them. We need stability and do not want to be going through all this yet again in 12 months.

It’s the 13th May not June. There is no panic. Next few days we will all know I am sure.

Not having a dig at you Camps because I know your post means well but it reminds me so much of the posts from last season when we were waiting for player signings to be announced and people were saying we should wait for Moore to decide so he could “get the right players, not just any players”.
As for not going through this again next year, it could easily happen even if we “get the right man this time” if whoever it is has a good season.

8/11,   could just be people lumping on but I doubt anybody would lump at this late stage at such a short price without knowing something.

Hope it's Wellens.

Agreed. The other two are now a big price if the decision is still wide open between the three.

Trying not to get my hopes up too high... but this is the most significant shift yet.

Pretty obvious it’s Wellens now. Well... it’s obvious he’s the first choice.

Fair to say the odds moved very similarly to this in previous appointments.

I just meant another 2/3 days isn’t a problem. Of course we need the new man in place ASAP

We need to get the retained list into the EFL. Surely, the new manager will want an input into that?

Deadline of Saturday to submit.

I would imagine it's already been discussed to some degree.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure SM touched on it that they'd be going through things like this in the latter stages of the interview.

It'll all be under control I'm sure, whoever our new man is.

What happens if the retained list is not submitted by Saturday. Genuine question. Can those players you wish to retain not  be allowed to stay. I don’t understand the rules on this. How does this work Alan?

Wellens clear favourite with the bookies now. 11/10... is it happening? :woot:

Probably based on our poll. Wellens had the slight edge.

I don't think there's anything stopping us later offering a deal to a player previously put on the released list is there?

Think you might be right Pliskin,I would think the ruling is in place to prevent clubs hindering a player who needs to know if he has a job or not and can therefore take the right moves to sort himself another club, job.Wise clubs would explain the situation to the player who can then wait a few days or so and see if the new manager wants to offer him a place with club.

What do they call a deer with no eyes, Camps?

All I do know is we have to get the list in.

By the way, latest odds, on twitter, is 4/9.

The retained list should not be a problem
Contracted players
Players offered contracts
Players released
Players gone back to parent clubs

The retained list is irrelevant.

It indicates only who we have offered deals to. Tommy Rowe was on it two seasons ago and he didn't stay. Conversely, Paul Keegan was released one summer but re-signed for us a month later.

It'll just say we've offered deals to James/Halliday/Wright and not the rest. This was all decided a while ago by the club regardless of who the new manager ended up being.

You're right, its part of the interview process in assessing the current squad and giving an indication of who they feel has potential and who they would consider let go.

But, the retained list is also a box ticking exercise to a point, it helps players to work out if they need to get active straight away or clear off on holiday knowing they have a  contract in their back pocket.

I see the Sun have an article claiming it's going to be Wellens. Make of that what you will.
