Given that there are lots of black profesional footballers and hardly any black professional football managers, I don't think it's asking too much to at least give someone the opportunity of an interview if they apply.

Not that I think it's an issue at the Rovers, I'm sure they give it to whoever they feel is the best candidate.

Whoever gets the job from this point will have clearly put the work in to impress the panel. I know he’s perceived as potentially risky based on previous events at the club, but I can’t help thinking Wellens would be a great fit as manager here and I hope it’s him. If it’s not then I’ll get right behind the other choice.

I would think a ‘left field’ appointment is the last thing we need, considering what we’ve witnessed over the last few months! He may well have impressed everyone during his interview, but it’s hardly going to be something that the players can identify with.

And, we have to attract some serious quality to the Club if we’re to have any chance of competing at all next season!
