Martin thanks in advance for the sterling (yet thankless) job you’ve done, some of the stick you’ve had on here has been totally unfounded

The Rovers board are still in discussions over the preferred candidate for the manager role. You can go to bed #drfc

Won't be today then.

If still not decided then it could easily run over the weekend I'd imagine.

Thanks for the updates SM, i know you can be a scapegoat when it comes to any critiscism of the club but is good to get some inside info from time to time. The piece by Hoden was brilliant too to better understand what the hell went off this season.

It's always a case of shooting the messenger though Fal. Something I have got used to.

But not for much longer, I'll be stepping down this year.

Can I ask why SM?..... apart from the crap you sometimes get on here, you seem to be deeply rooted in the club and football generally.  You've not been tapped up for a move upwards have you?

So they all don’t agree who they want then?
Interesting

So he didn’t leave when the takeover fell through then like the vicar suggests?
So are you fishing for ammunition to fire at me like you always do lol

Eh??
I can’t remember ever having an argument with you mate
ok so why bring me up now in the context you have.  And RW left not long after if it wasn’t straight away and it was about the O’Brian money

I’m not bringing you up,
I said I didn’t know which occasion you were talking about,
And then someone has responded informing me and that wellens didn’t leave until fergie got rid of him.

... and any takeover was nothing to do with Denis O’Brien!!
yes it was

Sequentia was in 13-14 in the Championship
LT and JR was in 14-15 in League One

RW signed in the summer before 13-14, Fergie joined in 14-15 and RW then left.

I’m sure Wellens explained the reason fo leaving in the podcast with Copps.
he can say anything he likes after the fact now can’t he

Coppinger was sat on a podcast with him, I doubt they both made it up about the meeting with Ferguson.

Why would he?

Plus terms have then to be agreed with their first choice when they’ve decided who that is.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it was as late as midweek before any announcement.
What odds on the first choice declining?

They’ve had all day to conduct 3 interviews and at 8pm they are still in discussions who they want.

If they all agreed I’m sure the news would be “candidate chosen, now discussing personal terms”

I’m sure all 3 would know the terms etc at the time of the second interview so they could withdraw if it didn’t meet their requirements, none have that we know of so if offered I’m sure they will take it.

When do the club let us fans know anything first hand.  we always have to wait days.  We spent half of our lives waiting what with the wife, the doctor, the hospital, and the Rovers

Will we pay more than an assistant manager gets at QPR.
Will we pay same or more than Salford or Swindon.
Can we compete with Motherwell so he might be the guy who gets the job.

Ffs. Here we go.

Put your conspiracy theories to one side. They can take as long as they want for me.

Do you expect them to publish their inner most thoughts before coming to a final decision. This is not about what flavour ice-cream to choose!

Hopefully we get a wonderful appointment with wonderful ability, and we don’t pay the pelanty for acting too slowly.

No they can’t, as we have to get the retainer list out by Saturday don’t we and the new manager won’t have time to do it

Maybe they have offered the job but had no reply, so can't say anything, just in case they have to offer it to another...

Not (yet) telling enough to feel definitive. But it’s a notable shift at an interesting time.

Patience. What’s the massive rush.

Let the board go through the process so we end up with the right appointment.

This is a huge decision for them. We need stability and do not want to be going through all this yet again in 12 months.

It’s the 13th May not June. There is no panic. Next few days we will all know I am sure.
