Lets talk about the Peterborough United game
« on April 25, 2021, 03:15:58 pm by selby »
Two teams heading in different directions at the moment with them doing well and us sinking faster than the Titanic which at least had time to get off some of their life boats.
Fergie will love the fact that deservedly they are on the cusp of promotion once again to the Championship and  relishing the fact that he has no need to lose any sleep over their next opponents ourselves.
For us the supporters, the staff connected with the club, and if there are any players who care at all we are undergoing at the moment the worst period of results, and witnessing the complete undoing of a team that up to the Christmas period had promised so much, which has gone a long way to making our demise so much worse, and seemingly with no end in sight, and some of the stiffest fixtures of the season facing us.
Our backers on the board must be gutted watching from the side lines when sanctioning a considerable amount of even more funds for what at the time in the last transfer window looked like a promotion push and the then manager doing an exit stage left disappearing act which added to the start of our current situation.
So what do you expect Tuesday? most including myself will be happy to avoid a right old drubbing.
What could possibly be the Answer? Butler has wrung the changes repeatedly, and with our weakness that has really been exposed of no u23s side to call on whatever is decided will be much a muchness.
  Could we change tactics?
Have the squad got the ability to play differently?
Can we at least show some urgency and pride?
Can we stop Clark Harris? a graduate of our No 9 shirt roll of honour for failures except for very few, who came to us with a reputation he has only enhanced since leaving South Yorkshire, and has now turned into the latest graduate of strikers Peterborough sell on for not so small fortunes.
Can anyone see us getting a result of any kind ?
Lots to discuss about this game, please have your say

Expecting to be beat by 5+ goals but it's the kind of game we'll win somehow

Christ, really, let's not talk about it.

Can't we close our eyes and hope it goes away?

Their pitch is terrible , we need 48 hours of rain and that might just make it a more
(un)level playing field and give us half a chance of getting a draw,

I don’t know whether he is genuinely injured or got the monk on, and he isn’t failsafe, but if we have Wright standing in again at full back in place of Halliday, we are going to get torn one down the wing. Would play dogs of war midfield with Smith, Greaves and Robertson.

They struggle against the Rovers, however.....
they get promoted if they win
Fergie gets one over his old team
we are not even playing anything remotely resembling football
we don’t know how to compete
we are letting every team that needs a leg up ......have one at our expense
we can’t defend
We can’t score
we can’t control the middle of the park
they have goals in them
they are going to be up for this like no other game...

0-3 .. because miracles sometimes do happen....

I remember looking at the fixture list at Christmas and thinking that the two games against Peterborough, especially the last one at the keepmoat, could possibly be real nail biting winner takes all affairs. Now I'm just hoping against hope that it's not an embarrassment

I don’t think the state of the pitch will help us. Posh don’t seem to be doing too badly on it.
Best home record in the division.

What we need is a squad of players who are going to cross that white line at 7-45 pm on Tuesday and give a 100% committed performance for 90+ mins
If we still lose then so be it but what i want to see is some pride and passion.

I want to see that red and white hooped shirt to actually mean something to them and the players to understand what that shirt means to the supporters who pay their wages.

They lost their last home game against Gillingham. We clearly don’t have the players to do this, but Evans must have got right in their faces to deliver that result. Properly laid into them.

I think I'll have an evenings fishing - can't stand the thought of what is going to happen to us against a good team!  At least I'll enjoy myself, even if I catch nowt - which is unlikely.

I reckon that if we keep the score down to 4-0 or less we will have done well.
I have been saying for a few weeks though that I expect them to get six.

I've chucked a tenner on us to win. Gets me just shy of £60 back.

May as well have shredded the tenner & put it on my sarnies for work but I've got a feeling we'll do a 'Rovers' and get a result.

Our last 10 games have delivered W1, D1, L8. We’ve scored only 7 goals and kept just a single clean sheet.

Are we allowed to just forfit the rest of the season now to avoid the pain of watching us play again this season?

That might put the minds of some sceptics at ease about why Halliday isn’t playing.

Do you not think it might do the opposite, Hound? Unless I'm misreading your post. A minor back issue has extended into a season-ending, multi-month problem.

I sincerely hope the rumours aren't true, as Brad has been one of the hardest working players for us on the pitch.

You’ve seen those wildlife documentaries about the lions ganging up on the hapless wildebeest?

Joe Wright at right back against Peterborough.
