From the list of rumoured names, Idd be happy with either of these
1. Stendel
2. Hasslebank
3. Wellens

I'm pretty sure that Liam Hoden has already ruled out Stendel and Hasslebank.

Something else that those bringing up Wellens' alleged past fall-outs with board members, Butler or whoever are missing, is that if the club is willing to consider hiring him as manager now...then they are no doubt well past any issues that occurred some 4-5 years ago or more.

In the pursuit of success, people butt heads. Wellens was part of a good amount of success here and elsewhere in his career, and has as solid a CV as any 41-year-old manager with only a few years experience could have. He has achieved success and experienced failure as well as working at three clubs with very different set-ups and outlooks. It looks a good fit.

Absolutely spot on there RA.
I was underwhelmed when our last three appointments were announced but am very much in favour of Wellens getting the job this time.
He has a strong personality and would have the respect of the players from day one.

Boothroyd

WHY?!

Out of the candidates mentioned so far
Has got promotion to the premier League
And has managed England under w21's
So has plenty of experience and has learnt on the job
Has more experience at higher levels than most mentioned so far and will have plenty of contacts

Hasselbank for me
He’s going places, doing well at Burton and yet again we will be his next step on the ladder

But the club will go for Wellens.      Safe

I'd love to see Wellens here. Based on results elsewhere and his approach to the game. Of course there is a bit of nostalgia as he is one of my favourite ever Rovers players, but then so was Jason Price, and I wouldn't want him managing the side.

I want a manager who has a plan B, a real plan B and the team to make it work when the fancy possession isn’t working,

Every club in football probably want's a manager who can make it work when the fancy possession isn't working- it's not that simple.

Out of all the names left who haven't been ruled out, I can't say I'm bothered about any of them. If I had to pick, it would be Stephen Robinson, I think.

There's just something about Wellens that I really don't like.

Why is Wellens “Safe”  surely with Hasselbank’s experience he would be a safer choice.
Don’t understand your reasoning other than you are having yet another dig at the board.  Am I right.  ;)

Any way I doubt Hasselbank has applied and Wellens would be my probable choice without any definite knowledge who the candidates are.

Wellens is not a safe option at all but would represent an exciting one.
Knows the club ( yes that is “safe” ) but will play an attacking brand of football similar to McCann.

Safe?

If you knew Wellens then you'd realise he's anything but.

But just because he may not be considered the safe option, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be the right one.

Personally I would view Wellens as a bold, ambitious and forward thinking choice.

If you listen to Copps podcast Wellens explains how he used to bollock all the rest of the players if he felt that they weren't performing or playing right. He also had the half time scrap with Brian Stosk where SOD subbed them both at half time.
He did say that it was always forgotten on a Monday training session. That might not work with some of today's players though.
I think that he is so strong minded which probably accounts for the way he left Salford.

I'd prefer not too. Hopefully there will come a time when these things can be discussed openly.

Pretty much like most football clubs idler.
I bet that Stocky and Richie had massive respect for each other as well.

This is totally correct. Wellens would excite the fan base.

Do the board have the bottle to hire him? Hope so.

Im taking from that, is you don’t want to say anything negative about him seeing as though in a few days time he will be the new gaffer

No, its not that. I just don't wish to say something that would be destroying certain peoples trust. In fact I've said enough on the subject.

Exactly. If Plan B was that good it'd be Plan A.

Why on earth would Hasselbaink leave a club where he has got an obvious connection for us, a team at the same level with similar resources?

Don’t think he will have applied but I am almost certain our budget will be much higher than Burton’s
They are only a very small club at our level.
