Denmark FA says he's awake

Following the medical emergency involving Denmark's player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.

Hopefully the signs are good and the medical staff have saved his life.

I looked up from my laptop to see Eriksen fitting on the pitch, then CPR being administered. I must admit I got quite upset at that moment, you don't expect to see such a thing just sat in your living room watching football.

It was horrific, and how long they kept the feed on the events unfolding too. They should have cut away sooner I feel. The strength of the Danish players to shield their friend and team mate whilst he received life-saving treatment like that is incredible.

Massive credit to the ref who cottoned on straight away and got the medics on. Every second counted, that may well have saved his life.

The Danish FA says Christian Eriksen is awake and waiting more tests in hospital. Great news, having made it to hospital and awake things looking very positive. I have to say I, (along with most people watching that I’m sure), feared the worst - horrendous to see.

It does make you think of your own vulnerability to mortality when someone as super fit as an international footballer collapses like that.
