It's always the same.

Germany will win. 90 mins, extra time or pens ?. Not sure. But I know they will get through.

Germany might win but plenty was saying they would rather finish 2nd in group for easier run to final looking silly now

A draw after 90 mins and a continuous stream of penalties for 3 consecutive days until someone flips a coin …… England to win

Get past Germany, who we haven’t beaten in a major Tournament since 1966, and there is a clear path to the final, deffo in the easier side of the draw

There’s no reason why we can’t beat Germany. I think we will.

We are favourites for some reason. History is against us and parking the bus will only get you so far. The only way we will win is if we score from a set piece and then the on slaught will be too excruciating to watch.  :chair:

Head says Germany, simply because they stuck 4 passed Portugal.

Yes they did. But Portugal are crap defensively. We're not

You don't normally get good odds on England.

There's so much blind patriotic money always willing to back them.

I've often had decent odds betting against England. And if you lose, you have the consolation that England have defied your expectations and progressed.

To be fair we have not been tested yet defensively. The team reminds me of Capellos England in 2010. Couldn’t score, scrapped through, played Germany in last 16 and…1-4.

4-1 Germany - good price.

I don't think Germany are that good and if we beat them its Sweden or Ukraine so there are reasons to be hopeful again.

Germany are a team in transition I feel. Yes, they put four past Portugal but two were OGs.

We have the strength in depth and England will need zero motivation, given previous tournaments, not to mention Southgate’s penno at Euro 96

This side is nothing like the one in 2010,
I went to South Africa for that tournament and we were abysmal

Germany won't have any fans in the ground either with current rules?

I’m more optimistic about beating them than the other occasions providing we don’t play Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw among England players at #EURO2020 :

Most progressive carries [16]
Most passes into the box [14]
Most progressive passes [11]
Most chances created [4]
Most open play chances created [3]
Most through balls [2]

Consistent quality.

Hard not to look beyond another hard luck story in this one.

Probably play well against them, score first get pegged back then some form of bad luck with a controversial decision will gift the game to Germany.

If only......

Hungarys number 9 caused them issues last night. Just need ours to do the same & I'm confident we'll turn these over.

Sterling and Saka will run rings round Hummels given the chance. I'm also confident that we've not burnt ourselves out in the groups, and feel this is as good an opportunity to beat a transitional German side as we've had.

Probably lose on pens.

Germany look brittle, England don't. That said, Southgate will set us up not to lose again so probably ET and pens and you know what happens then.

Tackles made
Headers made
Crosses stopped
Clearances made
Man marking
Is he a full back or a winger?

Amazing how people see things, my opinion he was shocking in the last game and offered very little. Every time he got the ball he stopped and passed backwards

If you thought that about Shaw you must despise Walker.
