Cam John - Leaving Message
« on May 03, 2022, 07:16:09 pm by sedwardsdrfc »
Looks like Cam is on his way. Posted on Twitter to confirm he'll be looking for a new challenge. Says some nice things about the club it's a real shame injuries got in the way for him.

Also interesting that he says "been injured and unable to have the right care and treatment hindered" his season. Looks like the conjecture about our poor rehabilitation might have some truth to it if this is anything to go by. Plus there's what Taylor said a few months back and the evidence in front of us all of a long injury list from which players often never came back from

That could also be a reference to the covid stipulations that were in force for the majority of his rehabilitation.

Real 100%er when he played and he has my sympathy.

However there can be no reason for sentiment. Rovers can't afford to sign on players who have been out injured all season given the squads' overall injury record.

Same goes for Okenabirhie. Another 100%er.

I wish them all the very best in their future careers though.

I would hope questions have been asked and investigated this is the third player Taylor Okenabirhie and now John) who have said about their treatment. Whether it’s due to Covid and limited time to see specialists  or them not being good enough. You would hope the club have followed this up and know exactly why players are complaining.

I am quite sure this will be something that Copps will have very high on his list if things that need sorting.

To be honest Camps this needed and should have been done before Copps got the job. It started before Christmas.

That’s a big loss as far as I am concerned. Signed for us on the strength of his centre back play, then only played as sub or left back?

Played a few games this season at the beginning in his preferred centre back role and looked very good again, then injury hit.

Mistreated by rovers managers, and by who ever was in charge of his treatment/rehab.

Decent guy, I hope he gets his career back on track.

Taylor didn't say anything about his treatment, he was referring to something else completely.

I thought Taylor was referring to Wellens saying his injury was all in his mind. Then playing him when not fit. I'm pretty sure he said something similar about Cameron John.

Think we've made a mistake not offering him anything, although if he wanted out you can't blame him. Could've been a big player for us and one with some resale value.

Aside from that he seemed like a great lad who always put the work in off the pitch with the community stuff. Wish him all the best, sure he can do better than league 2.

“Not being have the right care and treatment” how does that come the manager he gets his information from the medical and physio staff.

Cam broke his back and they still sent him out to play. Nothing wrong with the physio.

They knew he had a crack in his spine and sent him out to play.
Or he felt his back and the decision was to play on in a game before being checked by physio doctor.
Which was the case?

The 22-year-old centre back has been sidelined since late August after fracturing his back against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup.. 3 days later he was playing against rotherham.  I've never fractured my back but I bet it hurts.

The fracture cannot been identified then he came off after 13 mins against Stoke yet played the full game against Rotherham. So he will felt his back against Stoke but it can’t have been checked and fracture found otherwise he would not have played against Rotherham. So between Stoke and Rotherham he will have seen the physio if he felt there major problem which there was he should have had a scan done.

It is impossible to come to any conclusion unless you have access to his medical records/club records.

You might have a theory but that's all it is.

I agree but can’t say he had a fractured back after the Stoke game as it can’t have been identified. He will have seen the physio before the Rotherham game as he came off after 13 mins in the Stoke game. So no conclusion but can’t say that he broke his back and sent out play it can’t have been proven at that point.

I know a few people who were treated for back complaints that turned out to be fractured, they tried to carry on as normal and had good days and bad days. Until they had an x Ray and it changed the diagnosis

As many of us know 'spinal' problems are very complicated and are not easily diagnosed. Sometimes just minor impingements can cause excruciating pain and more fundamental problems might seem minor until the nagging pain just won't go away.

We all try to soldier on until we can't! For us commoners, it can take months to get an accurate diagnosis then treatment however, you'd hope professional sports people would be fast tracked but, I have no doubt Covid affected everyone.

No doubt, there's thousands of sportspeople who carried on playing when hindsight says they shouldn't. We all have to take some responsibility for our own wellbeing. If I'd have listened to my GP, I wouldn't be here now. That particular back pain turned out to be cancer.

I would have allowed him to train with us, if he wanted to, then offered him a deal if he looked anything like he did.
A good player but the injury has set his development back. He could have been a top player for us.
