Yorkshire Post sports guy clarified last night that it was the highest fourth tier at Valley Parade.
I see several sources saying a new Tier 4 attendance of 19368 was set yesterday. This is far from true.I think what they may be referring to is that it might be a record attendance since Tier 4 was renamed Football League Division 2 in 2004-05 when Tier 2 was first branded as the Championship. Many on here may remember the previous season 2003-04, which was the last season Tier 4 was called Division 3, on our way to winning the title we played in front of 23006 at Hull - losing 3-1 to a Jason Price hattrick. That was only Hull's second largest attendance of the season - that had 23495 for the visit of Huddersfield near the end of the season. Some on here including myself will also have been present when Rovers hosted Darlington in 1968 in front of 22268 at Belle Vue. The actual largest ever Tier 4 attendance was a massive 37774 for the Good Friday game between Crystal Palace and Millwall in 1961, in the third season after Tier 4 was created after the 2 earlier regional Tier 3 divisions were merged.
