I'd like to say that we can use this game to try out some different things but isn't that what GM had pre-season for?
Yes but he’s changed from that when Molynuex returned from fitness. In the best performances in preseason Tommy always played either middle or left or right of the front three.

Good to see Close finally back as well as Barlow and Olowu. Hopefully with the personnel it will be more of a 433 with Biggins and Close as proper box to box midfielders either side of Ravenhill.

Is Woltman ineligible? Has he played for Liverpool U-21 maybe?

Looks like it as losing 1-0 now.
Another brilliant half time team talk from GM I suspect.

To be honest the most important thing about tonight’s match is giving game time to both Olowu and Close.

Great to see Ben Close playing a competitive game again. Last one was 27th Nov last year at Burton.

We need a fully fit Ben Close. He is just the player George Miller needs to give him those on the floor threaded passes through the channels.

Is Ben Close still playing in the 2nd half?

Thought he might be.  How did he do? Presumably quite a bit off the pace at this early stage of his return.

Good.
While I don’t give too much importance to this competition I do think a good result tonight would be a confidence booster. Losing is a habit and one we don’t need to continue any longer.

Sorry GM my apologies, maybe that HT team talk was inspiring.

Should have been 3-1…apparently Faulkner missed a sitter.

You’re right Campsall, winning is a habit & it will be great for our confidence when we play Saturday. Let’s hope we keep the habit Saturday and some good minutes on the pitch for some long term absentees. Good result and especially love it cos it’s Lincoln and it gives me small (but welcome) bragging rights in the local pub on Friday night!!

Very refreshing performance from a young side tonight - commitment and energy, shame that LM didn't both boost his confidence and seal it with the excellent chance set up by Miller.

Hard watch first half, thought maxwell and hurst linked up exceptionally well at times. Defensively a lot better. Still gaping hole in midfield at times.

Thought we improved massively once ravenhill went off

That last 20 minutes gave me some hope that all is not lost. Not surprisingly we had TWO up top when Miller came on and i honestly thought GM was going to take off Agard and bring Miller on to play up top on his own when for the first 70 it wasn't working with Agard.

Play 2 up top, move the ball quicker, play with more energy, grab the impetus and lo and behold chances are finally created and we look like a f**king decent side for a change. Not difficult Gary is it?

Until we scored it was same old. New faces in the side but same old lethargic, passionless and chanceless performance.

Not getting carried away at all but we need 2 up at home to Crawley and for GM to show the lads the last 20 minutes of tonight and demand that from kick off Saturday.

Close did well and great to see him get minutes. Barlow first game back but he's bloody awful and why he was given a longer contract God only knows.

Lincoln were quite poor on the night but we showed great fight and energy to come from behind and there is a glimmer of hope that the game on Saturday might be worth going to after all.

Couldn't make it to Lincoln in the end. Sounds like we dug in for a result in the end. We love these late winners don't  we?

Last 20 we totally dominated, was great to watch and could have been 3 or 4. First 70 we were abject as we've been much of the season. Could be a turning point? I want more of the last 20 and less of the first 70 please Gary!  :scarf: :scarf:

Winning is important when we've been so poor recently even if it's not in an important competition. I'd have played a stronger team in search of form so well happy with a win and so many rested... maybe they'll get a longer break if any of the incomings stood out.
