I’d go with Artell out of the names linked so far.

Think Alexander has the best CV of all the names mentioned so far.
Think he would be my pick.

Edwards would be my 1st choice but can’t see him dropping back down to league 2

I don’t know anything about Artell other than he was born in Rotherham and used to play for them, and amidst the shock and awe of horrific football we played all last season, Crewe were even worse, and he signed Madger Gomes. On the face of if, this is a tough hill for him to climb.

Graham Alexander's football isn't great. I'd like to be entertained again at some point please.

Rob staton saying keep an eye on Graeme Lee. FFS

I got a whisper about Greame Lee a few weeks ago, posted this on a similar named thread  on Vsc.

His record with pool was played 33 won 10 drawn 12 lost 11.
Following their defeat to Rotherham in the efl trophy semi final, Pools downturn in form sealed his fate, winning just one in 11.got to the fourth rd of the fa cup though.
I wasn't endorsing the rumour mate, just repeating it, cool your jets!

Lee/Green/Hird
What a joke the free press is

You'll look silly when it is one of them. I think there's something in what they're saying. Hoden - ex Free Press editor, now Rovers Head of Media. Sure he is still on good terms with his former employers.

How many "scoops" has DFP come up with since Hoden took the job at Rovers? He has no loyalty to DFP seeing as how he was up for redundancy before he jumped. There'll be nothing coming out of Rovers until the new manager is announced IMHO

Whoever gets the job will no doubt be slagged off on here before he’s set foot in the manager’s office. The club can only appoint from those who actually want the job. I just hope the poor bloke who takes it on is given a fair crack of the whip.

I don’t think Hoden owes the DFP any inside information the way he was treated. Plus I think he would be much more professional and not divulge any of the inner workings of Rovers. As stated previously the DFP have had no scoops since Hoden was there

Chris - too true and have to live with the tag of being the cheap option. Some of our fans will never be happy

Just seen Dean Holden has popped up on Twitter doing an interview with Gab Sutton.

Speaks well and could be a shout.

Just in time for the Crewe game then, CIM; and definitely in time for Fatty's table toppers.

Wouldn't be suprised if its Ferguson , if Copps has had a big say in it. Still speaks highly of him

Graham Alexander the outstanding candidate of the names mentioned imo.

Can I ask why?

Got Fleetwood promoted to League 1. Got Scunthorpe to the League 1 play-offs. Got Salford promoted to League 2.

I'd say that's the kind of experience we need.

He was also very harshly sacked by Salford who were at the time in the L2 play offs.

Sure I saw Gary Nev say somewhere that he regretted sacking Alexander.

Who would have thought Copps would have a big say in choosing the next manager………..him being Director of Football & all that.

I just wonder if we will entice a manager doing well at another club or will just interview the ones who choose to apply for the job. Because only JFH i feel would be a decent shout at the minute given the names in the mix.

I don’t think we should hang everything on an appointment being concluded before the weekend. Of course we’d like to, but if it was to take a few more days it’s not the end of the world.

Could be neither of the above. I understand we’re not inviting applications, but that doesn’t mean we won’t approach people that are currently available.

Just my take on things. I think Copps will have done his homework, sounded out and lined up a range of candidates to present to the board. Most likely at least three will be very serious contenders with good credentials.

I think it's also likely he will help a couple of others who he knows have the ambition to manage in the future, to experience the interview process as part of their development, without any real expectations of getting the job. So yes, it could be feasible the likes of Greeny and Hurd might be invited to take part.

They have a brief and criteria the board want to be met and I think it's likely Copps will have influence with the decisions but each candidate is there to impress during the interview to show they have what it takes to take us forward. I doubt it's clear cut at this stage until all have been interviewed.

I'm sure we would all like to be a fly on the wall during these interviews and the follow up discussions but, we can only trust the best one shines through and their record in management backs it up.
