I still think there will be one or even two names come to light that don't currently  appear on the bookies list or in our discussions so far.

That’s usually the case.

With the final interviews today, the names should leak out and we will probably know by the end of the day who it will be.

I think they'll be a lot of disappointed people on here very shortly.

I wonder if there’s a Psychological term for ‘People getting angry about something that hasn’t happened’?

There’s a few examples of it on this thread!

I’m old enough to remember the outage and accusations of a lack of ambition etc…when we recruited Billy Bremner, Dave Penney, S’OD, and McCann. Given who we are and where we are as a club, we win some and lose some when recruiting managers. Let’s just wait and see how things develop.

I think that would be the case whoever is chosen. I just hope that whoever it is gets a fair crack of the whip from the fans. Hopefully the new man can galvanise the players and use a system that maximises their ability.

Would Steve Morrison be worth a punt? Took over as Cardiff boss when mick Mccarthy was sacked and in relegation zone, steered them clear comfortably. Changed the style of play that mick had them playing which earned him his extension.
Worked under a crack pot owner for a year which apparently during the end of his tenure got a bit frosty due to the owner meddling in the football side of things. Morrison likes to do it is way.

he's young and feisty, will add some bite into the players.

I know the list as been drawn up and he won't be on it

I doubt he’d be interested.

We aren’t a big enough club to appoint someone like that, he’d be gone in 3 months if he was going well.

I commend the club for changing their recruitment process, and if DS is announced tomorrow, and he was headhunted by Copps, I trust that man because he knows more about football than me.

Schofield will do exactly the same...

Does feel like Schofield is the man from the rumours but they may be wrong it's happened numerous times.

I'm not convinced if it is him, but I certainly wasn't with McCann and that was a very good appointment.

We have to trust that Coppinger knows a thing or two about management.

These types of appointments are just gambles.

Hoping there is some else, maybe JFH? We know he has interviewed and got close before. He has his issues but it well versed in management which is what we need.

Lee or Schofield, both very little experience, we may as well stuck with GM

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that given Copps recent connections with Huddersfield and his association with Leigh Bromby, with whom he's likely to have discussed DS at length.

Possible that Copps recommend DS to the board but maybe the board aware of the risks involved wanted to hear from other candidates who have managed with more games under their belt, to see how they stack up against each other and fill the brief.

Once whoever is appointed I think it would be beneficial to hear from Copps about the recruitment process, his part in it and what it means for the club going forward.

Always makes me chuckle these reports- is the interview room bugged, are DFP camped outside with a glass to the door ?

So not Barry-Murphy, Alexander, Artell or Coughlan.

Schofield and Lee not ruled out. Brill...

This is just the press going into a feeding frenzy whilst keeping an eye on the betting odds.

Let's be honest, no one really knows anything about Schofield (including me). What you're going to glean from wikipedia I do not, but next to nowt.

He was good enough that Huddersfield thought to employ him in the first place, after they lost big players in the summer. He didn't get wins but the performances were ok according to some reports.

That's it.

What are these 'recent connections' Coppinger has had with Huddersfield? I've missed that. Has he been in doing some positive thinking stuff with them?

What is the obsession with ex players and people with Doncaster connections. Who gives a monkeys.  Forget all this and let’s find the right man for the job.

Mates with Leigh Bromby who does similar role for Huddersfield.

I take it from that statement that you know who is to be our next manager or at least know of all those who are on the shortlist?

If not, what a childish & unhelpful…no, pathetically useless post.

The one thing for sure with all the speculation is that our next Manager/Head Coach is at the moment out of work

And you can categorically state that to be the case?

You don’t know that.

Either of them could be an inspired appointment.
Having said that both are a huge risk as both have so little managerial experience.

DS is a highly rated coach and if he is a motivator or brings in a right hand man who is a motivator then they could be a dream team for us.

GL I knew personally when he was 14/15 yrs of age as my step son Neil Illman was living at their house for quite some time when he was at Middlesbrough in the youth team with Graeme’ older brother.

Graeme has considerable coaching experience at Boro in the youth set up since he finished playing.
Yes only been a manager at Pools for 30 odd games. He did really well apart from the last 11 games.
Think he could be a great appointment but is obviously a risk.

But there is no guarantee of success if JFH or Artell or Alexander get the job.

If either DS or GL get the job I hope they bring in an experienced assistant.
Someone who has promotion on their CV as a coach or manager.

A very positive influence not only on the training ground but also a very good motivator in the changing room.

Because that worked well with McSheffrey.
