The greatest, that 1970 World Cup side was the best ever attacking side with Pele central to everything they did, Jairzinio, Rivelinho were his sidekicks, and who can’t forget the lay off for Alberto to score a screamer. Pele’s stature in the Football world will never be equaled

Pele’s stature in the Football world will never be equaledProbably the moment when most football fans of our generation saw football come alive in glorious colour.Yes, we were still on a high from 66 but quickly learned about the pain of defeat to Germany but that final took football to a new level. A contrast to the stark reality of gritty domestic football.
Had the pleasure of seeing him play at Hillsborough when Santos were on a bit of a world tour. Seem to remember that Tommy Graig (I think) stuck to him like glue near the end of the game to get his shirt

The crowd was gigantic and if I remember it was an afternoon kick off mid week. Loads of kids bunked off school to go.
