Ian Wright has now said he won't appear on MOTD.

No great loss either of them

Too woke. Cancel them.

On another note, I felt MOTD was starting to go stale with him presenting and needed a freshen up.

Hugh Woozencroft is way better on the EFL highlights.

Stupid decision from the BBC.
Talk about making a rod for your own back. I hope they get all the flak they deserve.

And now Shearer has pulled out, of appearing on MOTD. Another who won’t be missed. Sack the lot and start again, the BBC should not be held to ransom

The thing is with the BBC is that I’m sure I’ve seen on this forum and social media that it is both right and left wing biased depending on who they’ve pissed off at any given moment.

This all just shows how outdated the idea of a state broadcasting institution that we have to pay for is.

Impartiality is too open to interpretation.

I remember a few years ago when the Oscars ceremony was used as a protest against Trump. A reporter asked Andrew Garfield if he would be protesting, and he replied that he wouldn't, because he didn't think it would be right for him to use his fame as a platform to air his political views, when the ordinary guy in the street doesn't have that platform.

What a refreshing change that was to me; a celebrity that wasn't up his own arse with his own self importance.

This is the same BBC that altered the response to Johnson's first answer in the GE Debate 2019 I think it was

When asked if he thought honesty in Politics was important he said Yes yes of course. The audience largely laughed at his response

Next morning they replayed the Debate and they had replaced the laughter with polite applause. I noticed immediately and called " foul" no pun intended

When challenged the BBC said it was done for the timings that morning. So does laughter last longer than applause ?

If people had seen the laughter would they have taken a different view of Johnson as a Politician

For those who didn't see it live , would they have been influenced by the polite applause

I don't know but it's a strange thing for a Body who is preaching impartiality to do , don't you think ?

Note . This whole thing can get googled and you can see exactly what was asked , how it was answered , what reaction that answer got and finally how it was edited

I've paraphrased the whole thing but in general I would say I'd probably get 8 out of 10 for accuracy.

I’ve heard Prince Andrew is stepping in. His particular experience is scoring own goals.

Interested to hear what Sydney / BST think about this in light of this story.

With an increasingly authoritarian gov in recent years, surely you are against them having a state broadcast?

Why can’t they rely on ad revenue like everyone else? If the BBC is so good they can survive on that and viewing numbers?

Then there doesn’t have to be a big moral dilemma about perceived partiality/impartiality.

It’s not just Lineker who has likened our government is to Nazi Germany is it.
It has been suggested on this forum too.

There might be something in it?

Side note, Lineker compared them to 30s Germany, not WW2 Germany.

Side side note, he didn't even compare it to 1930s Germany, he compared the language used to the language used in the 1930s. Which is spot on.

Anyway with all the big names dropping out who's going to be the MOTD scab? Jenas is my bet.

Many of us remember the BBC's impartiality at Orgreave during the Miners Strike .

Time they stood on their own feet and funded themselves .
