i thought Kennedy had left defensively minded Lincoln for a better job

Lincoln as i always say have no prospects whatsoever their "fairy godmother" lives in South Africa and has to "tap up his friends to invest"   remeber all those 1-1 home draws last season ----- that's the way they have ALWAYS played
better playing away as they bore you to death

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67161710#:~:text=Mark%20Kennedy%20replaced%20Michael%20Appleton%20as%20Lincoln%20City,was%20sacked%2C%20says%20Imps%20chief%20executive%20Liam%20Scully.

it's gong to cost a lot to pay him off plus he can claim unfair dismizzal

"Mark Kennedy's public criticism of midfielder Danny Mandroiu and not Lincoln City's results were among the reasons the head coach was sacked, says Imps chief executive Liam Scully.

Kennedy had said Mandroiu could become "just another statistic" unless he changes his approach.

The midfielder had been sent off in Lincoln's defeat by Burton - the Imps' third loss in four league games.

"Certainly, it was not purely a results-based decision," Scully said.

"Of course we are ambitious and our aim is to be higher in the table at this moment in time, but it is very early on in the season and there are lots of mitigating factors.

"One thing we want to be clear on is that we are not naive, this is about winning but this isn't purely about results. Far from it."

Listen to BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Hope and Glory podcast
Kennedy, 47, became the first Lincoln manager in almost nine years to be dismissed rather than leave by mutual consent or move to another club.

In an interview with BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Scully added that style of play and development of talent under Kennedy were reasons for parting ways on Wednesday.

And while trying to avoid "a warts and all" explanation, Scully went on to say that Kennedy's treatment of Mandroiu was also among the reasons.

"One thing I can say, and please let's not let this run away, but I don't think it was helpful in terms of our characterisation of Danny Mandroiu after the game," Scully said.

"Is that part of it? Yes. Is that the reason? No.

"I keep going back to it, and I know I will bore people saying this, but there are many different facets and parts of this.

"This is looking at it from an elevated pitch, the progress that we are making and not necessarily the progress we have made so far, but how do we hit the measures we would like to achieve going forward?

"And fundamentally that was why we felt it was in the best interests of all parties."

Kennedy was just 11 leagues games into his second season with the club, and had the Imps 16th in the League One table - five points off the play-off spots and seven clear of the relegation places.

The former and Republic of Ireland, Liverpool, Manchester City and Wolves winger guided them to an 11th place finish last term, his first in senior management.

"Mark and Danny [assistant Danny Butterfield] in many parts did what was asked of them, and above and beyond," added Scully.

"We are very grateful for them doing that, but this is about about Lincoln City here and now and going forward as well.

"We will never do anything knee jerk at Lincoln City, certainly not with Clive Nates at the helm. We are process driven in terms of looking at the overall objective of the football club."

Grimsby 2-0 down already.

Hurst under pressure there after they were tipped to do pretty well.

Colchester manager sacked

they play Grimsby on Tuesday so should put in extra effort before we play Grimsby on Saturday  - hopefully that  Tuesday match is a draw so Grimsby still have their manager when they play us

didn't want Grimsby manager sacked yet.

That’s another team we can leapfrog in the table then.

He’d worked miracles with them so far this season.

They only had 6 contracted players at the start of the season.

They were like us last season. Started the season on fire.
Well maybe we didn’t but we did get 14 points in the 1st 6 games.

Cambridge sack their manager
Mark Bonner

I am sure you all remember   reading this link - I certainly do as I thought to myself  ......  How stupid is this manager being  - having avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth   ( believe it or not thats why I never forgot how stupid he was being)

The manager rewarded his players with this --- I have always been a fan of Joe Ironside   and thought he had totally lost the plot releasing him  never mind the other nine (as in 9)

12 May 2023

https://www.cambridgeindependent.co.uk/sport/double-figure-number-of-departures-is-sliding-doors-moment-9312454/

Cambridge United confirm departures of Lloyd Jones, Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs among others while Ryan Bennett, George Thomas and club legend Harrison Dunk have been offered new contracts

Cambridge United have confirmed that 10 first-team squad members – including Lloyd Jones, Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and Dimitar Mitov – will all be leaving the club following the conclusion of their contracts on June 30.

Following the highs of Sunday’s dramatic escape from Sky Bet League One relegation, head coach Mark Bonner has held meetings with the players throughout the week to determine their futures.

And the result of those discussions has seen a double-figure number heading for the Abbey Stadium exit door, with fresh terms having been offered to handful of other players that are also due to be out of contract – chief among them Ryan Bennett.

Defender Jones, who cleaned up with club’s end-of-season awards, will move on after making 69 appearances for the U’s, from which he scored four goals. Smith, meanwhile, has been United’s leading goalscorer in each of the previous two campaigns, with his run of seven goals in the final nine fixtures a key factor in this season’s survival. The Manchester-born frontman has recently been linked with fellow League One club Portsmouth.

Having arrived in Cambridgeshire in 2019 from Aston Villa, Knibbs will leave after turning out for Cambridge on 155 occasions (26 goals). Goalkeeper Mitov is also another long-serving player that will be moving on after making 164 appearances for the club – the most notable being the Bulgarian’s heroics away at Newcastle United in the FA Cup.

Popular frontman Joe Ironside will also not be retained. The 29-year-old joined United in 2020 from Macclesfield and went on to score 32 goals in 143 outings. Cambridge-born midfielder Liam O’Neil will leave with 165 appearances and seven goals to his name, while versatile defender George Williams is also on the hunt for a new club. Williams, who joined United from Bristol Rovers two summers ago, made 83 apperances for the club.

to repeat  players leaving the club were

- Leaving the club on June 30: Greg Taylor, Liam O’Neil, Dimitar Mitov, Harvey Knibbs, Joe Ironside, Sam Smith, Shilow Tracey, George Williams, Lloyd Jones, Ben Worman

and remember  :-

Smith, meanwhile, has been United’s leading goalscorer in each of the previous two campaigns, with his run of seven goals in the final nine fixtures a key factor in this season’s survival.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL LOYALTY   FROM BONNEr   not  a "bonne" decision as a frenchman would say

got wot he deserved others would say

Even more strange is the owner has confirmed it in an interview on Talksport before it's even been officially announced.

Not sure what they expect from Wilder they just aren’t competitive and it didn’t seem like funds were available to change that

That's a shocking decision by Sunderland to sack Mowbray.
He's done a great job for them and they're only a few points from the play-off places.

What do some clubs expect?! Sunderland have become a joke club these last few years but Mowbray had got them back up and knocking on the door of the Premier League.

Makes you wonder if they have gambled financially on going up and there isn't space in the plan for a 6 game drop in form

Don't know why he would, he's managing a bottom half LG2 team, he has took a big gamble coming here I think, he won't be touted for championship jobs anymore like when he was flying with us the first time.

Would agree especially only having one transfer window to make the leap from League One to Championship. To expect a team to go straight through that league is nuts.

There certainly seems to be a financial angle on it from a lot on Twitter - Mowbray has queried being tasked with using so many youngsters.

A lot of those jobs are very difficult to be able to achieve what the clubs fans expect. The Sheffield utd job near impossible. Less funding going into a league of a much higher quality. Wilder has it all on there.

No one gets any time to build a team

Only 3 teams get promoted ( 4 in league 2 )
Seriously it’s a joke all these sackings.

Some of them like Mowbray at Sunderland are beyond comprehension.
Has there been a big fall out with the Board because this decision is quite crazy.

Some of these clubs deserve what they get because they are ther own worst enemies.

Birmingham City and Watford it would seem are the biggest 2 culprits.
They must have had 40 managers between them in the last 10 years or so.
Would be interested to know what the numbers are if someone has the time to find out?

Since Chris Hughton was appointed Birmingham manager on 22nd June 2011, they have had 15 different managers (including 3 caretakers). The longest serving manager in that timeframe is Lee Clark who was there between 26th June 2012 and 20th December 2014 (116 games). Only one other manager got past 100 games in charge, that was Gary Rowett between 27th October 2014 and 14th December 2016 (106 games).

Since Sean Dyche was appointed in the same month as Hughton at Birmingham, Watford have had 22 managers (including Hayden Mullins’ 2 stints as caretaker). The most games managed by one person in that timeframe is Gianfranco Zola with 75 games in charge between July 2012 and December 2013. Only 1 other manager got past 50 games in charge, Javi Garcia with 66 between January 2018 and September 2019. 7 of the 20 permanent managers in that period didn’t make 20 games.
