Joe Ironside.

“Joe Ironside won’t score more than 10 goals from open play”.

Now I just can’t recall the poster who nailed that one to the door? But I’m sure he’ll ‘man up’ & hold his hands up before I recall who it was.

Just scored his 15th goal of the season with another 45 minutes to play against MKD.

Joe Ironside will score 20+ goals this season.

He's on 7 open play goals in the league currently.

He hasn’t scored 10 has he? Given a bonus gift today as well.

Let’s get things clear, I hope he score a goal a game between now and the end of his contract. He obviously won’t, 21 games left this season, he’s likely to score (open play) at a rate of about 1 in 4.

You’d have to put 5 or 6 more open play goals in as favourite. Not impossible he gets 3 or 4.

I remember a someone early on calling him a “limited footballer”.

That headed assist for Moly was immaculate.

Magnificent bas**rd and tough as old boots.

Needs a chant ASAP.

Let’s get things clear.

When you come out with a statement like you did Gaz Laz, you deserve to be pulled up for it when you’ve clearly made a bit of a fool of yourself.

Now, if I had made such a ridiculous statement so early in the season I like to think that instead of coming on the forum & saying he was gifted a goal today, or ‘hiding’ behind your own stats (which make you look even more ridiculous by the way) to show you won’t be way off the mark come the end of the season then ‘sugar coat’ it by saying you “hope he scores a goal a game until the end of the season…”, I would like to think I would have the good grace to hold my hands up.

You’re a tad too full of yourself fella.

Who cares whether he scores from so called open play or other situations.?

A goal is a goal isn’t it? Any player who gets 15+ goals a season is going to have a variety of goal “types”..

Apparently ‘some people’ don’t count penalties towards a players goal stats, only goals from open play are worthwhile counting to them.

It must be galling for them when he’s credited a goal from a deflection!

I for one didn’t really see more than a one paced striker, with the ability to hold it up and look busy during the pre season games, and probably not get many goals as he didn’t look a goal scorer at all.

I said I’d give him until new year to prove me wrong, and I’m happy to slice off some humble pie. He’s proven to be one of the best players for us, albeit a pretty crap season so far, so from me: We’ll done Joe

Signing of the season. Exactly what we’ve been missing for years.

What a man. Super Joe Ironside.

Signing of the summer is a big accolade in the same summer that we signed Owen Bailey.

Fair enough mate.

There’s strikers in this division who are only there to win headers and link play, some to only run and chase and some just to be on the end of chances. Joe can do all of that.

No, he’s not going to skin 2 or 3 players or regularly score 20+, but there’s a lot that goes in to centre forward play. And sometimes those like Joe come under scrutiny if they aren’t prolific or exciting, despite the important work they do.

He’s clearly the best striker we have had at least since Fejiri.

Churlish attitude to a player who has done everything we've asked of him and more this season, the fact he's performed the role he has all season in some cases with very little support tell you everything we need to know about him and his work ethic.

Fantastic pro who's been a credit to himself and the club, long may that continue.

Can't knock him. 14 goals in a supposedly rubbish team is impressive and for a striker who isn't all about scoring goals that's a good return.

I reckon Sterry and Senior might be competing for the award by season end too. If they stay injury free

Fancy Molyneux to get some more goals now in this new system and beat his previous Hartlepool total of 8 (currently on 2).

When Ironside drops deep Luke is basically a striker

Absolutely a first class pro, leads by example. The way mo talks aboout him in interviews is superb. When Gm said the first attribute  needed for the summer signings was character, well he got it 100% spot on with Joe,   brilliant player!!

Maybe it’s just part of his carefully curated haggard workhorse aesthetic?

I’ll pass on that.

Still can’t bring yourself to admit you were wrong about Ironside & his ‘10 goals from outfield’ though.

Not quite the oracle you crack up to be then.

Can we all please just be happy we have a very good player on our hands. Let's not turn the great performance today into a negative between fans... It's New Year's Day a time to look forward.

Please let's try and be positive as a fan base and stop division.

Probably nothing in it but rumours from Wrexham end on twitter saying Wrexham have made a bid for Joe.

They've been linked with a hell of a lot of strikers the last few weeks.
