For those who are more politically knowledgeable than me, a simple question. I didn’t know a Prime Minister from one party could nominate someone to the House of Lords from another party. This what happened when Theresa May did for John Mann in her resignation honours list. Perhaps this is why his wife who is standing as the Labour candidate in the same constituency, Bassetlaw is going by her maiden name Jo White.
Every honours list has people from all the major parties getting peerages. Anyone can nominate whoever they want to to get one.
